What is African Black Soap?
In West Africa, authentic black soap is known by its yoruba name, Osse Dudu. "Dudu" means the color black, which comes from the extensive "cooking" of the soap to the point of charcoal. Many cultures in West Africa use charcoal to detoxify and purify the skin, and this is an integral aspect of our true African black soap.
Furthermore, our authentic black soap is made from a centuries old recipe of handcrafted shea butter and indigenous West African palm kernel oil. Saponification is provided by adding ashes to the hot oils, then cooking the soap for six hours. The final step is to dry and cure the soap in the sun for three weeks.
The extensive cooking and curing process makes authentic African black soap mild and gentle, and is the major reason for its great popularity rise in America. The second reason is this soap's versatility. In Togo, our black soap is an "all in one" option for cleaning, and is ideal for faces and babies, shaving, shampooing, and as a general hand & body wash. Scented with invigorating peppermint essential oil.
Facial Cleanser: Apply with palm or facial cloth and massage gently over skin. Rinse clean and pat dry. Follow with Alaffia Face Cream of your choice.
Body Wash: Squeeze onto a wet loofah, scrub or wash cloth and work into a lather on body. Rinse thoroughly.
Shampoo: Apply to wet hair & massage into a rich lather. Rinse thoroughly & condition with Alaffia conditioner.
Also good as: Hand soap, shaving soap, and general household cleanser.
For external use only. Keep out of eyes.
African miner (ocimum canum) extract (aqueous), african black soap (saponified shea butter* (butyrospermum parkii) and palm kernel oil (elaeis guineensis)), lauryl glucoside, peppermint essential oil.

iHerb Customer Reviews
I have tried many brands of charcoal soap, including bar and liquid form, commercial and natural ones. I have stopped searching since finding this. I have re-ordered several times with iHerb. I use this for face and body and I believe guys with short hair can use this for hair too. With this soap, I do not need to use moisturizer on my body. Yet is is not too oily for my humid tropical weather. In fact, the addition of peppermint is really appropriate for my weather. Great product!
I like that it is in a pump bottle and that it is a multi purpose soap. I use it as a hand wash refill as well. It's not drying on skin and overall pleasant to use. Another bonus is that it's a fair trade product. Just that I am not to fond of peppermint, wish iHerb would stock the unscented version. >>>>>>> Click on my iHerb review page link above to read the rest of my product reviews.
