  • Alvita. Natural Herb Teas that are Good for You and the Environment

For more than 75 years, long before it became fashionable, Alvita was championing the profound health-giving properties of herbal teas. We travel to the far reaches of the globe for the finest herbs, the best growers, the most precious sources.

Small wonder that so many consumers trust the Alvita name. Today, it stands for more than 100 different teas, including classic single herb varieties, and our unique Alvita blends. The package you hold in your hand combines ancient herbal wisdom with modern science, and brings to you all the richness and benefits of herbal teas. This philosophy is the very reason why you will find sensible, English pillow style tea bags that are oxygen bleached, not chlorine treated. And why you won't find any strings, tags or staples.

We thank you for choosing our product, but more importantly, we thank you for the trust you've put in the herbal values that we all share.

Often brewed as a coffee substitute, the roots of Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) can also be used as an ingredient in root beer. The cleaned, raw roots can also be sliced into salads or cooked and added to other vegetables. The taproot is white on the inside and dark brown on the outside and grows up to six inches long. The plant first appeared in the 10th century journals of Arabian physicians. By the 16th century, the British considered Dandelion a valuable herbal plant and it has held a distinguished place among European herbalists for centuries. When the whole plant is used, Dandelion will work as a natural dye and turn a fabric a deep magenta.

Suggested Use

The best way to make a good cup of tea is by the infusion method. Place one tea bag in a cup and add no more than 6 oz of boiling water. Let steep for 3 minutes. Press the bag before removing to enhance the flavor.

Add honey to sweeten.

Dandelion root is great, and roasted even better! It's so tasty and I won't buy the regular any more. Great for cleansing the liver and kidneys. awesome product.

Great coffee substitute!

Posted by Reviewer1765286 on Mar 19, 2010

I wanted to cut back on coffee consumption (which I mostly crave before "that time of the month") and was told that I should try drinking Dandelion Tea. I ordered the Alvita roasted kind and have been drinking it for over 3 weeks. I love it! It has a mild chicory, weak coffee taste. I sometimes drink it plain or at times I may add a little 1/2 and 1/2 or flavored creamer. It's truly wonderful...and NO CAFFEINE!!
