Product Overview

  • Caffeine Free

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a tropical perennial that grows from an aromatic, tuberous rhizome that is knotty shaped and buff colored. The name Ginger is derived from the Sanskrit "gringa" or horn and "vera" meaning body, in reference to the shape of the root. Ginger has a recorded history of use in China dating from the 4th century B.C. Used for hundreds of years as a spice for cooking, Ginger is also used for its soothing properties. Ginger is available fresh, dried ground and in dried pieces. It can be added to beverages, fruits, salads, meats, poultry, vegetables and is a favorite in stir-fry cooking. Combined with onions and garlic, it adds an agreeable, warming flavor to any main entree.

For more than 75 years, long before it became fashionable, Alvita was championing the profound health-giving properties of herbal teas. We travel to the far reaches of the globe for the finest herbs, the best growers, the most precious sources.

Small wonder that so many consumers trust the Alvita name. Today, it stands for more than 100 different teas, including classic single herb varieties, and our unique Alvita blends. The package you hold in your hand combines ancient herbal wisdom with modern science, and brings to you all the richness and benefits of herbal teas. This philosophy is the very reason why you will find sensible, English pillow style tea bags that are oxygen bleached, not chlorine treated. And why you won't find any strings, tags or staples.

We thank you for choosing our product, but more importantly, we thank you for the trust you've put in the herbal values that we all share.

Alvita Natural Herb Teas that are good for you and the environment.

My favorite ginger tea

Posted by Reviewer2124974 on Nov 03, 2006

I would definately recommend this brand of ginger tea. I have tried other brands and this is definately my favorite. It has about double the amount of ginger in the tea bag compared to other brands.

Alvita packs the tea right. Ginger fights pain. I drink a cup daily, and within 1/2 hour or so, invariably feel better.

good quality

I usually buy the Yogi brand from iherb, but they were out of stock, so I tried this one. It is very potent, though I prefer to have the additional ingredients in my regular brand. My only minor complaint was the tea bags have no strings.

The Jack of all Trades ~ Best tea when Fresh isn't available.

Posted by Reviewer2757004 on Jul 05, 2009

Ginger root is a great digestive aid. Everyone should have it in their cabinet. Fresh is best, however when not available this is the way to go. It is the closest to fresh I have found. Ginger root is also good for the heart and will do the job that aspirin will without the long term side effects. (But you cannot use aspirin with ginger as it will cancel out the ginger root.) It is a great anti inflammatory and will assist with the ease of migraine tension headaches. (I know, I get them!) You do have to be careful with this and check with your doctor if you are taking any medication.
