The Audubon Mission

The Audubon mission is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity.

Certified Shade Grown Organic Coffee

Better in so many ways

Many coffee lovers are also nature lovers and birdwatchers. Wouldn't it be great if you could help conserve birds and nature simply by enjoying a fabulous cup of coffee? You can!

Audubon Premium Shade Grown Coffee is made exclusively from carefully selected Arabica beans cultivated by traditional farmers in the most well renowned coffee regions of the world. These exceptional farmers use traditional production techniques in order to grow their beans as nature intended—under a lush canopy of tropical trees, home to warblers and resident rainforest wildlife.

In an effort to boost production, many coffee farmers have switched to full sun farming, destroying native shade trees, leaving only a monoculture of trees and little possibility for wildlife habitation. Audubon Shade Grown Premium Coffees are grown in harmony with nature, without pesticides, and with fair treatment and conditions for workers.

Protected from rain and sun by the forest canopy, these coffee beans mature slowly and naturally, bathed by gentle mists and filtered sunlight, accompanied by birdsong and butterflies, while absorbing the flavors of the rainforest. The result is a superior coffee; fresh roasted and vacuum packed to seal in all those natural flavors.

Enjoy! And thank you for making a difference!

Suggested Use

To brew a great cup of coffee...

Grinding Whole Bean

Start with just enough beans for one pot of coffee. Use 1-2 levels tablespoons of ground coffee for every 6 ounces of water. Coarser grounds make milder coffee. Finer grounds make stronger coffee. If ground too fine, the coffee can taste bitter.

Use The Right Equipment

For best results, use a French press or automatic drip coffee maker with the appropriate size filter. Water is an important ingredient in a good cup of coffee, so always start with fresh, cold water. For best flavor, use bottled or filtered water.

Preserve The Flavor

To keep that fresh brewed flavor, promptly transfer your perfect pot of coffee into a thermos or carafe.

Warnings

Keep It Fresh

Store whole bean coffee in an airtight container in the freezer or a cool, dry place until it's time to brew.

Good

A little dark for my taste. I prefer Columbian coffee, and although this isn't labeled for origin, I thought a Medium roast would be OK. Turns out I should look for light roast. :) I really like the products aim and the company mission, and the price is affordable. I will buy it again.

Very nice

Posted by Reviewer2684419 on Nov 26, 2012

Not up on coffee snob lingo, but it tasted great in the morning, and goes well with the things that matter (toast, bagel, chocolate mint cookies...) Second in my memory only to Counter Culture Coffee, which I don't find here. To my surprise, I think I liked the other one I tried at the same time, it was on special..."Just A Bean Organic House Blend" although I couldn't possibly explain why. But I would buy this again based on its being shade grown.

Glad to be able to buy this.

It seems to be mid-strength, if the saem range of French Roast is higher, and the breakfast blend is lower.
