This ayurvedic herbal toothpaste is suitable for people suffering from acid reflux, heartburn and gastritis, because it doesn't contain mint which may aggravate these conditions. Unlike many other toothpastes, this one is free of fluoride, parabens, propylene glycol, PEGs, saccharin and other synthetic additives, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, colors or harsh abrasives, but it does contain sodium lauryl sulfate. Even though SLS is not a dangerous and toxic carcinogen or endocrine disruptor, it's a potential skin, eye and lung irritant and may cause allergy in some individuals. Glycerin is a safe ingredient but sometimes may interfere with the remineralization of the tooth enamel. All the other ingredients are great, though: fine chalk and silica gently clean the teeth without damaging the enamel, while clove oil and a powerful blend of peelu, neem, indian licorice root, pomegranate rind, common jujube, rose apple, clove, persian walnut, barleria prinoitis bark, Indian almond, bedda nut, Asian holly oak, pri ckly ash, zanthoxylum alatum, sappan wood, catechu, bengal madder, acacia arabica bark, sarsaparilla, cinnamon, medlar bark, mayweed and bishop's weed flower extracts prevent and reduce plaque and tartar build-up by killing harmful tooth decay-causing bacteria and stimulating the growth of tooth-protective, non-acidic bacteria, remove stains, strengthen the enamel, help prevent caries, relieve the symptoms of gingivitis and parodontosis, heal sore gums, reduce redness and inflammation, fight halitosis and prom ote fresh breath, carrageenan (natural, not its degraded and chemically processed variety, poligeenan) is a thickener made from seaweed, cellulose gum is a natural binder and viscosity increasing agent. Overall, it's a pretty good toothpaste, and unlike mint toothpastes, it doesn't provoke my acid reflux or irritate my stomach lining, but it would be much better without SLS and glycerin.
I had to through it away, what a waste! It smells like licorice or UZO, I remember that awful smell when my grandpa used to drink, and it is hideous! If you don't mind that smell and taste, then go ahead, give it a try.

I first tried this when my homeopathic doctor was selling it. Tastes fresh but not minty. My dentist is impressed with my visits and says keep up the good work; I hardly have any tartar! Glad to find it here on iherb much cheaper! Highly recommend! UPDATE: I have found out that I am salicylate sensitive, therefore have had to stop using it because it makes me cough afterward.

Not too bad, it's okay! Though there is a concern with the ingredient - glycerin (coats teeth). You can use it as an alternative but not for long-term usage (:
Burns my mouth

Nice toothpaste with average effect, but for some reason the foam burns my mouth and lips (after rinsing with water it's OK, but no other toothpaste has ever caused this - even the ones with mint flavor) so due to this discomfort I shorten the teethbrushing as much as I can . For me the licorice one was a lot better.
Great product, great taste

This is a lovely toothpaste. I originally chose it on the advice of my homeopath, now I would use it regardless as it works very well leaving my mouth and teeth fresh and clean.
