I've tried non-R form ALA, all of them make my urine smell funky, I guess I'm one of those who can't metabolize sulfa very well-when I eat asparagus, my urine also have the same funky smell. You may not notice the difference when you are on biochem ALA, but when you stop taking it, you will notice your blood sugar fluctuates

Works well, like lubrication for the memory ,
April 08, 2008
From Japan
Prior experience was with 350mg/day of ordinary alpha lipoic acid (R and L), this brand has a comparable effect on me at 200mg/morning. This includes a typical brief "heartburn" if I take it after meal instead of before. Why I will keep taking it? Back is some of the effortless remembering of names from faces as in childhood, where in the last decade the faces were familiar but names more frequently used to get lost in fog.
I am more alert and less concerned of losing any marbles while I work or speak. Works best for me if combined with L-Tryptophan 500mg/evening.

R-lipoic acid,
January 31, 2009
From Sweden
The "R" form is the best if you have diabetes and really want to see an improvement in blood sugar levels. However, although this product, being the "R form of ALA, is good, I need to take 600 mg, that is 6 tablets, just as recommended for diabetes, in order to notice an amazing drop in blood sugar levels. I therefore find that the "R-ala" from "Life extension" with 300 mg/capsule, is more economical. If you are a diabetic and need higher doses of "R-ala" that brand is what I recommend from my own experience and according to what science says.

An Interesting Product,

Taken with ALC as research indicates does appear to have positive health benefits but don't expect any eureka effect. The benefits begin to show after taking the combined substances for a few weeks. It shows in feeling well, looking well, and having more energy. I have the suspicion that it might either remove or prevent the formation of liver spots. I take the combined substances with each meal.
