The length of time for the expiration date or "best used before" date depends on the type of product, as well as the brand.
Perishable items (such as flax oils or certain probiotics) generally have shorter expiration dates. Although our warehouse is fully air-conditioned, these more fragile items are put in cold storage (freezer or refrigeration unit) for maximum freshness.

Cooking Instructions For Cereal
Bring 3 cups water and 1/4 teaspoon salt to a boil. Add 1 cup Bob's Red Mill Corn Grits and reduce heat. Cook slowly for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat cover and let stand for a couple of minutes before serving. This will make enough for four generous helpings.

I love to use these corn grits to coat my fish in. It gives a nice crunchy texture. I also want to try as a coating on salmon patties. I think that would be tasty as well!
