For over 5,000 years, Fava Beans have been enjoyed as a delicious source of protein, fiber and iron. Similar in taste and texture to lima beans, they are one of the most flavorful and meaty beans around. Bob's Red Mill Fava Beans have been naturally blanched to remove the unsavory skins. They're excellent for soups, dips, and a wide variety of other dishes.
Diets rich in whole grain foods and other plant foods low in total fat, saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease and some cancers.
Keeps best refrigerated or frozen
Rinse and sort Fava Beans, do not soak. Place in medium to large saucepan, 1 part Fava Beans to 3 parts water. Bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 40-45 minutes or until soft. Beans will begin to break apart as they cook, overcooking may result in mushy beans. One cup of dried Fava Beans yields approximately 3 cups of cooked beans.

These beans are fantastic but should be soaked 8 hours or overnight in water covered 3 inches over the beans in the refigerator and not covered. Drain them well and proceed accordingly.
I trust anything from Bob's Red Mill. These beans smelled good while cooking, and tasted good too, but I found that the cooking directions on the package were not correct. The directions said not to soak the beans, and to cook them for 40-45 minutes. I followed the directions but found that the beans were not cooked in that time. I cooked them for another 30 or 40 minutes, and they seemed okay then, but when I ate them I found that they could have done with some more cooking. Most likely the beans SHOULD be soaked before cooking, or else the cooking time should be two hours rather than 45 minutes.

These can be used on their own, in salads, soups, stews. They are delicious boiled or steamed.
