Making The World's Best Oatmeal At Home
It's so simple. Bring 2 cups water and ¼ tsp. salt (optional) to a boil. Add 1 cup of rolled oats, reduce heat and cook for 10 to 20 minutes (time depending on the consistency that you like your cereal) stirring occasionally. Cover, remove from heat and let stand for a few minutes. Enjoy. Makes 2 servings.
In The Microwave
Say you're in a hurry. Combine ½ cup oats and 1 cup water. Cover and microwave on high for 3 to 5 minutes. Let stand for two minutes. Enjoy. Makes one serving.
- Serve with milk, cream, or a pat of butter.
- Add brown sugar, honey, or maple syrup for sweetness.
- Add fresh or dried fruit, raisins, nuts, and/or cinnamon.

Did not try cooking these, but they were great as overnight oats. I soaked them for about 7 hours, and they maintained a great chewy texture, keeping me full for half a day. Followed other iHerb users' advice not to buy instant / quick cooking oats because those oats will turn to mush after soaking, but i guess it really depends on your personal preference. No complaints here!
Soaked with organic soy milk overnight with chia seeds, dried blueberries, plums & raisins as breakfast (& sometimes with cooca power). Taste good as usual. Nice price in i-herb.

Rolled oats. Organic. Pretty basic! Bob's Red Mill. They've been around for a long time, so I trust them. Brand loyalty and all that.
