The length of time for the expiration date or "best used before" date depends on the type of product, as well as the brand.
Perishable items (such as flax oils or certain probiotics) generally have shorter expiration dates. Although our warehouse is fully air-conditioned, these more fragile items are put in cold storage (freezer or refrigeration unit) for maximum freshness.

Bob's Red Mill Quick Cooking Rolled Oats are uniquely "Kiln Toasted" and freshly milled from the highest quality oats grown in the Great Northwest - some of the best oat-growing country in the whole United States!
These oats are rolled extra thin to shorten the cooking time.
Diets rich in whole grain foods and other plant foods low in total fat, saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease and some cancers.
For a really delicious breakfast cereal for two, bring 2 cups water and 1/4 tsp. salt (optional) to a boil. Add 1 cup of rolled oats, reduce heat and cook for 1 to 5 minutes (time depending on the consistency that you like your cereal) stirring occasionally. Cover, remove from heat and let stand a few minutes. Serve with honey and milk and a big smile!
In large bowel, combine 1/2 cup Bob's Red Mill Organic Quick Oats and 1 cup water. Cover and microwave on high for 2 to 3 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes. Makes 1 serving.

I have ordered 12 packages of Bob's Red Mill, Organic Quick Cooking rolled Oats, because I have recently read two articles concerning the benefits ot oats. One is "10 Foods That Pack a Wallop" in TIME magagine, January 21, 2002 and the other is "The 150 Healthiest Foods on Earth" by Jonny Bowden(Fair Wind Press, 2007). In the latter book, the only recommended grain is the oats(other than the oats, quinoa is recommended too, but quinoa is not a true grain). The experience is very much satisfactory! Delicious beyond my expectation. I have replaced yellow rice or whole grain bread by oats for my meal. Sorry for my bad English. Thank you.
