Makes a 1 1/2 lb Loaf

Baking Directions: For 1 1/2 pound bread machine: Put 1 1/8 cups warm tap water into machine. Locate and remove the enclosed yeast packet. Then add the contents of this package of Rye Bread Mix, 2 tbsp canola (or other) oil, and contents of yeast packet. Put machine on basic white bread or medium setting. Turn on machine. Now enjoy that great old world flavor of rye bread.

Baking Instructions: By Hand for Conventional Ovens (This Package makes 1 loaf)

Locate and remove the enclosed yeast packet.

Add contents of the yeast packet to the mix. Combine the Rye Bread Mix, 2 Tbsp canola (or other) oil and 1 1/8 cups warm water. Knead 8-10 minutes on a floured surface. Place in a greased bowl, cover & let rise in a warm place until doubled (approx. 1 1/2 hours). Punch down, cover & let rise until doubled (approx. 30 - 40 min). Form loaf and place in a greased 9 x 5 x 3 bread pan. Grease top of loaf. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place until doubled (approx 45 min). Bake at 375ºF for 30 - 40 minutes. Thump top of loaf. A hollow sound indicates a properly baked loaf. Turn out of pan, cover with a towel and cool before slicing.

Enriched unbleached flour (wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin, iron, thiamine, riboflavin and folic acid), dark rye flour, whole wheat flour, light rye flour, rye meal, evaporated cane juice, gluten, non-fat dry milk, active dry yeast, sea salt (magnesium carbonate), caraway seeds, ground caraway, soy lecithin.
