The length of time for the expiration date or "best used before" date depends on the type of product, as well as the brand.
Perishable items (such as flax oils or certain probiotics) generally have shorter expiration dates. Although our warehouse is fully air-conditioned, these more fragile items are put in cold storage (freezer or refrigeration unit) for maximum freshness.
Our receiving department does its best to verify and then enter the correct expiration dates for all incoming products. However, discrepancies do occur from time to time. This being said, the exceptionally high turnover at iHerb ensures that our inventory is among the freshest in the industry.

The Bob's Red Mill team went to Scotland to compete in the Olympics of oatmeal, the Annual Golden Spurtle World Porridge Making Championship. For the first time in the competition's history, it was won by oatmeal from outside of Scotland by Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats — the very same whole grain oats that are in this bag.

Keeps best refrigerated or frozen
Bring 3 cups water and 1/4 tsp. salt to a boil and add 1 cup Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats. Reduce to a low simmer. Cover and cook 10-20 minutes (depending on how chewy you like your cereal). Stir occasionally. Remove from heat and let stand covered for a couple of minutes. Serves four.
- Serve with milk, cream or a pat of batter.
- Add brown sugar, honey, or maple syrup for sweetness.
- Add fresh or dried fruit, raisins, nuts, or a dash of cinnamon.
