Create nutritious, gluten-free dishes with millet, an ancient grain from the Far East. Millet has a mild, sweet flavor and quick cooking time, making it a tasty, convenient, whole grain addition to any meal of the day
Which grain was first farmed nearly 10,000 years ago? Which grain was revered as one of five sacred crops in ancient China? Which grain is mentioned in the Old Testament, the writings of Herodotus, and the journals of Marco Polo? The answer is millet! This versatile grain is gluten free, easy to digest and a good source of fiber. Enjoy whole grain millet as a unique alternative to rice in salads, stir-fries and porridge.
Bob's Red Mill products labeled Gluten Free are batch tested in our quality control laboratory. We use an ELISA Gluten Assay test to confirm that a product is gluten free.
Keeps best refrigerated or frozen
Basic Cooking Instructions
Bring 2 cups water or stock to a boil in a pot. Add 1 cup millet; cover, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until all water is absorbed, about 20 minutes. Makes 4 servings (about 2 1/2 cups).
Whole grain hulled millet
Manufactured in a facility that uses tree nuts and soy.

Packaged well in individual bags in a heavy duty box. Makes a good addition to my all purpose gluten free flour mix. I make bread with The AP flour mix. As with all my ingredients I store in mason jars that has all the air removed to keep them clean and dry.
Anytime I go out on a limb to try new whole-grains, I always have to remind myself to be aware of potential gluten-based dietary issues which may arise with the inclusion of the new whole-grain source. Such was the case with the 'Gluten-Free Millet Seed', which I recently purchased at iHerb.com. While it may be an ancient grain from the continent of Asia, it did give me a whopping reaction to it--with bronchitis, as well as a dry cough. Never again! The rest of these bags of 'ancient grains' will go into the bird feeders to feed my chipmunks and feathered friends. All of my local wild creatures adore millet seeds and will enjoy this offering of millet without complaint or injury! Unfortunately for me, I wasn't as lucky. It may stipulate 'Gluten-Free' on the label, but my body systems totally disagreed!

I wanted to like this so much but it was impossible for me to like it. It tastes a bit like rice which I am not crazy about plus bitter taste. Not for me unfortunately.
