The length of time for the expiration date or "best used before" date depends on the type of product, as well as the brand.
Perishable items (such as flax oils or certain probiotics) generally have shorter expiration dates. Although our warehouse is fully air-conditioned, these more fragile items are put in cold storage (freezer or refrigeration unit) for maximum freshness.
Our receiving department does its best to verify and then enter the correct expiration dates for all incoming products. However, discrepancies do occur from time to time. This being said, the exceptionally high turnover at iHerb ensures that our inventory is among the freshest in the industry.

These delicious, hearty peas are so easy to prepare, requiring no presoaking and cooking in just about 30 minutes. They're not only tasty and simple to cook, but also a good source of protein, iron and dietary fiber.

Beans, peas, and lentils are natural agricultural products. Despite use of modern agricultural equipment, it is not always possible to remove all foreign material. Sort and rinse before cooking.
Add 3 cups of water for every 1 cup of Yellow Split Peas. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 30-40 minutes

I used the peas in the soup and it was yummy!
Have used the split peas in two recipes so far. They do require a bit of soaking, but that has always been the case with dried beans, peas, etc. My only concern was the packaging. One of the packages broke open in transit. That was due to the packaging by the manufacturer. The cellophane package was brittle and if the box it was in was dropped or roughly handled, I could see where it might break open. Didn't hurt the peas! When I finish my supply, will buy more.
