The length of time for the expiration date or "best used before" date depends on the type of product, as well as the brand.
Perishable items (such as flax oils or certain probiotics) generally have shorter expiration dates. Although our warehouse is fully air-conditioned, these more fragile items are put in cold storage (freezer or refrigeration unit) for maximum freshness.
Our receiving department does its best to verify and then enter the correct expiration dates for all incoming products. However, discrepancies do occur from time to time. This being said, the exceptionally high turnover at iHerb ensures that our inventory is among the freshest in the industry.
The Shipping Weight includes the product, protective packaging material and the actual shipping box. I used this powder for the first time today together with their cacao butter, some MCT oil, pastured butter, organic crushed vanilla beans and the combo was divine. This powder is lighter in color than the one I usually use (Now Foods, Certified Organic, Cocoa Powder) and in my opinion tastes better. From what I can gather, lighter in color usually means less processed. I will start using this powder from now on even though it is SLIGHTLY more expensive than the cocoa powder from Now Foods. Bring on more products from Earth Circle Organics, one of my new favorite brands
I really like Earth Circle Organics, and usually use their Bali Cacao Powder. Once they introduced the Ecuadorian, I tried it and now use both depending on what I am making - it has a very different, richer, 'darker chocolate' taste than the Balinese cacao. When I put this in raw chocolate it produces a dark balanced flavor.
