I bought a couple of cans, and I was very happy with the taste and the quality of the tomatoes. However, I was a bit concerned with the white lining inside the can. After a bit of research on the web, it appeared that this white lining meant the presence of BPA. I called the company today, and they confirmed that the cans that they use for tomato products contain BPA. Their rationale was that the acidity of the tomatoes would eat into the metal if the can was not coated with the material containing BPA. The person with whom I spoke said that their independent laboratory analysis showed that the amount of BPA was so minute that it was undetectable. My further research on the web led me to Bionaturae organic diced tomatoes. I have not called them; however, their claim on the web is that "The lining of this can was produced without BPA." IHerb carries this product, and I will be switching when I put in my next order. It will be interesting to see if they were able to develop a metal can that is not affected by the acidity of the tomatoes without the use of BPA.
I bought this to make my own tomato sauce but these have skins, and not peeled... It would be ok to make some salsa or something (for which I don't need this much tomatoes to make salsa, or I use fresh ones for salsa.) This is not for making sauce...it was not juicy either, kind of dry. Would not recommend.
