Frontier Natural Products, Organic Powdered Barley Grass, 16 oz (453 g)3 Reviews
Expiration Date: Nov 2017
The length of time for the expiration date or "best used before" date depends on the type of product, as well as the brand.
Perishable items (such as flax oils or certain probiotics) generally have shorter expiration dates. Although our warehouse is fully air-conditioned, these more fragile items are put in cold storage (freezer or refrigeration unit) for maximum freshness.
Our receiving department does its best to verify and then enter the correct expiration dates for all incoming products. However, discrepancies do occur from time to time. This being said, the exceptionally high turnover at iHerb ensures that our inventory is among the freshest in the industry.
Shipping Weight: 1.24 lbs (0.56 kg)
The Shipping Weight includes the product, protective packaging material and the actual shipping box. In addition, the Shipping Weight may be adjusted for the Dimensional Weight (e.g. length, width & height) of a package. It is important to note that certain types of products (e.g. glass containers, liquids, fragile, refrigerated or ice packed) will often require protective packaging material. As such, these products will reflect a higher Shipping Weight compared to the unprotected product.

Barley Grass is a whole food loaded with essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fiber and many more nutrients your body needs every day. A wonderful way to ensure you're getting enough dark leafy greens in your diet.
The barley grass is harvested just prior to jointing, which research has shown to be the period when nutrient levels are at their peak. The grass is harvested using a direct cutting method so that the leaves never touch the ground, and is then moved quickly (within an hour) to the dehydrator. A low temperature dehydrator is used, specially designed to keep nutrient levels at their maximum. The grass dries for 2-3 seconds ensuring that the cell temperature stays below 107° F retaining the maximum levels of heat sensitive nutrients. The grass is then formed into pellets (decreasing the surface area exposed to oxidation which causes nutrient loss), placed in nitrogen filled pharmaceutical grade sacks, and placed in cold storage where the product is frozen. The product is only removed from cold storage when needed for packaging, and then cryogenically ground to order.

iHerb Customer Reviews
This barley grass powder was terrible! The taste is awful and hard to cover up, and the texture is very gritty. I had many barley grass/green drinks and have enjoyed them all-this product by Frontier Naturals tasted like a combination of grass, dirt, and a hint of chocolate-with the texture and feel of dirt. I used it a couple of times with different juices and nothing helped-the last time I tried it I got sick and haven't used it since. I will not buy this brand again-I've used other Frontier Naturals products but I won't get their Barley Grass Powder again.
I enjoy the energy and nutrients from this product. I also like that it is 'clear': No added fillers, like rice.
