Carob is a natural, nutritious substitute for cocoa or chocolate. Carob looks and tastes somewhat like cocoa, yet contains higher amounts of natural sugar, much less fat, several minerals, and no caffeine.
Botanical name: Ceratonia siliqua L.
Medium roasted carob powder is roasted for 10-12 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Use per your recipe. If not using a recipe, keep in mind that you do not need to use as much additional sweetening because of carob's naturally high sugar content.

I bought this as eating cacao late at night was becoming a bit too stimulating and sometimes I feel like a sweet treat after dinner. Carob is a source of D-Chiro-Inositol as well, which is beneficial for PCOS. I blended a banana with some almond milk, pecans, vanilla, cinnamon and chia and mixed in carob til it was nice and gloopy. I spread it on dehydrator sheets with grated coconut sprinkled over the top and cut it into bars once it was solid. Yum! Also nice mixed with coconut butter, chopped nuts and frozen in chocolate molds.
I love this carob, as soon as I received the first one and tried it in my soy milk and made carob chocolate out of it I went online and ordered another one. Will purchase again and again and again. YUM :-)

First time using powered carob; I've had carob bars. If you are expecting chocolatey taste then you might wonder at the lack of it. I like it. I used this product in a simple pear and ginger dessert then in a pear, ginger, coconut milk dessert. Liked it both times. Most of the time, I make a hot drink - carob, honey and ginger.

Really nice, I mix this with cocoa and it's great. Sweet and chocolate-y.
