Frontier Natural Products, Whole Elder Berries, 16 oz (453 g)21 Reviews
The length of time for the expiration date or "best used before" date depends on the type of product, as well as the brand.
Perishable items (such as flax oils or certain probiotics) generally have shorter expiration dates. Although our warehouse is fully air-conditioned, these more fragile items are put in cold storage (freezer or refrigeration unit) for maximum freshness.
Our receiving department does its best to verify and then enter the correct expiration dates for all incoming products. However, discrepancies do occur from time to time. This being said, the exceptionally high turnover at iHerb ensures that our inventory is among the freshest in the industry.
The Shipping Weight includes the product, protective packaging material and the actual shipping box. In addition, the Shipping Weight may be adjusted for the Dimensional Weight (e.g. length, width & height) of a package. It is important to note that certain types of products (e.g. glass containers, liquids, fragile, refrigerated or ice packed) will often require protective packaging material. As such, these products will reflect a higher Shipping Weight compared to the unprotected product.

Dried elder berries have a fruity aroma and a sweet and sour, fruity flavor. The berries are dark purple and have a much-wrinkled appearance. Little or no stem should be present.
To use as a tea, pour 1 cup boiling water over 1 tsp. of herb, cover and steep 3-5 minutes.
The dried berries can be reconstituted and used for the same purposes. Elder berries are used in herbal syrups, tinctures and teas blends. Like elder flowers, the berries make a soothing, heat-clearing herbal tea. Elder berries are also often made into a cordial or a syrup.

iHerb Customer Reviews
except from the traditional blend of Elderberries with Ginger and Cinnamon inside a honey base making a tasty respiratory treatment i find this product blend very well in various tea blends, the most notably is as follows:take an infuser and put 1.2 grams of Tulsi leaves(Holy Basil),add 2.5 grams of the Elderberries, add 1 gram of slightly crushed Cardamom and poor hot boiling water over it all, cover the cup with the infuser inside and let soak for about 10 minutes until its drinkable hot,add honey to taste and enjoy...you are welcome to rate & read my other reviews
The elder berries in this product were well ripened and raisiny. There was a minimum of extraneous material in the berries. I used the berries to make tincture (they were steeped in alcohol) and the result was richer in color than I achieve with my home grown berries and seems to have the same medicinal properties. If I run short of my own berries again, I wouldn't hesitate to order this product.
