The length of time for the expiration date or "best used before" date depends on the type of product, as well as the brand.
Perishable items (such as flax oils or certain probiotics) generally have shorter expiration dates. Although our warehouse is fully air-conditioned, these more fragile items are put in cold storage (freezer or refrigeration unit) for maximum freshness.
Our receiving department does its best to verify and then enter the correct expiration dates for all incoming products. However, discrepancies do occur from time to time. This being said, the exceptionally high turnover at iHerb ensures that our inventory is among the freshest in the industry.

These seeds like other dried seeds may germinate under proper conditions. However, herb and spice seeds sold by Frontier are not intended for sprouting purposes and in many cases will not germinate.
The nutty flavor and satisfying crunch of poppy seeds are traditionally enjoyed in salad dressings, cakes and spice blends. The tiny seeds are great sprinkled on breads, crackers, pretzels and rolls, and sprinkled on salads and noodles.
There are no declarable nutrients in a 1/4 teaspoon serving.
Storage: These seeds like other dried seeds may germinate under proper conditions. These seeds have a high oil content, and although the oil is relatively stable while the seed is intact, refrigeration will slow the oxidation process and prolong the life of the seed.

If you're looking for high-quality poppy seed for baking, look no further. Poppy seed purchased in supermarkets is usually dried-out and stale, not to mention nearly tasteless. Frontier Natural Products, Whole Poppy Seed, on the other hand, is nothing of the kind. Possibly because this product is Non-Irradiated, the aroma is satisfyingly earthy and rich, as poppy seed ought to smell but rarely does. While it's not a complaint, I was surprised to find, on closer inspection, that this is actually a mixture of different varieties of breadseed poppy: there are white seeds, brown seeds and black seeds, which makes me curious about the growing and processing of this product.
When I opened this bag and smelled the poppy, I thought I was standing in a field. The seeds are very fresh. I plan to use in wheat-free muffins and home-made cakes. Great on top of hot buttered multigrain toast.
