Grapefruit
Grapefruit, a large citrus fruit, contains naringenin, an antioxidant that increases insulin sensitivity by accelerating the breakdown of fat in the liver. Researchers believe naringenin mimics the work of anti-diabetic drugs by "convincing" the liver it is fasting. Grapefruit also contains large amounts of vitamin C, which may help prevent colds. It is rich in the antioxidant lycopene, which has promising anti-cancer properties, although research is ongoing.
