Jarrow Formulas, Hemp Protein Powder, Unflavored, 16 oz (454 g)120 Reviews
Expiration Date: Mar 2016
The length of time for the expiration date or "best used before" date depends on the type of product, as well as the brand.
Perishable items (such as flax oils or certain probiotics) generally have shorter expiration dates. Although our warehouse is fully air-conditioned, these more fragile items are put in cold storage (freezer or refrigeration unit) for maximum freshness.
Our receiving department does its best to verify and then enter the correct expiration dates for all incoming products. However, discrepancies do occur from time to time. This being said, the exceptionally high turnover at iHerb ensures that our inventory is among the freshest in the industry.
Shipping Weight: 1.42 lbs (0.64 kg)
The Shipping Weight includes the product, protective packaging material and the actual shipping box. In addition, the Shipping Weight may be adjusted for the Dimensional Weight (e.g. length, width & height) of a package. It is important to note that certain types of products (e.g. glass containers, liquids, fragile, refrigerated or ice packed) will often require protective packaging material. As such, these products will reflect a higher Shipping Weight compared to the unprotected product.

iHerb Customer Reviews
The taste is quite fresh and not strong, but I can still feel it in my green smoothies. It mixes well with water and I like that it comes with a scoop, making it easy to take the amount you want. And it is organic. Also, the proteins in hemp, 65% edestin (similar to the globulin found in human blood plasma) and 35% albumin, aid digestion and assimilation and are good immune builders. I also like that this product has only 50% protein along with fibers and other valuable nutrients present in present in hemp seeds (essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants), making it not just a protein supplement but almost a super-food. The only downside is that, although hemp protein contains all the essential amino acids, it is NOT A COMPLETE PROTEIN, because their proportions are not right for optimal use by the body : hemp protein is deficient in lysine with only 26 mg per gram of protein, while we need 51 mg according to the Institute of Medicine's Food and Nutrition Board. Protein quality is dependant on having all the essential amino acids in the proper proportions. If one or more amino acid is not present in sufficient amounts, the protein in your diet is considered incomplete, and it may limit the body's ability to synthesize its own proteins. In order to achieve a superior amino acid profile, you can mix this with yellow (split) pea protein powder, which is rich in lysine. This combination allows one to enjoy the benefits of hemp protein powder with improved bioavailability. There are also other foods that are high in lysine (some fish...). I hope this helps.
I LOVE the Jarrow Formulas Hemp Protein. I bought this because I am a vegan and I was feeling like I could use some extra protein in my diet. I have been using it daily for about 2 weekss now and the results are highly satisfying. It adds a slight grassy flavor and slight texture so I can add it to whatever I am cooking without really noticing it. I mix it in salad dressing, mustard, tomato sauce, almond milk, coffee smoothies, fruit smoothies, or make a protein-packed cheat food like gluten-free cocoa pancakes with Hemp Protein in them. Also, it blends well with fresh or frozen berries and fruits.I do feel more energized when i take this, and you dont get that bloated gassy feeling like with soy. It is easy to digest and hemp protein is supposedly more usable by the body than whey or soy. There are 15g of protein per serving, not as much compared to whey, but hemp protein is nice because it is not produced from an animal product. It's not highly processed like whey, soy, rice or other protein powders. I realy love hemp powder because is an important source of amino acids, dietary fiber and essential fatty acids that brings me a lot of health benefits. I have read that hemp is very environmentally friendly since it is grown without pesticides and herbacides. Also, no other natural plant source contains the healthy blend of 21 amino acids, fibers and essential fatty acids than the seed of Cannabis sativa that offers a perfect nutritious diet which is easy for digestion as well as free from side effects. Other than offering high energy and nutrients for the body, hemp proteins contain 65 % of globulin that offers natural strength for the body to fight immune deficiency diseases. It offers natural antibodies that can safeguard your body from infection and related health disorders.Hemp powder is one of the few food sources which contains GLA! So, if you want an excellent source of protein from one of the most nutritious sources known, I higly recommended this
