What does Certified Sustainable mean?

In 1987, The WCED commission of the United Nations defined sustainable developments as "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."

In 2006, a non-profit organization called "Friend of the Sea" began to audit and certify companies that fish or farm fish for sustainability. Certified companies must adhere to strict sustainable activities. In 2010, the calamari oil in Eco Omega was certified sustainable by Friend of the Sea.

Eco Omega Oil is pressed from the trimmings of calamari already caught for food. Unlike traditional Omega 3 sources, calamari reproduces quickly. Eco Omega fishing methods are environmentally sensitive, with little by-catch of the other marine animals.

Eco Omega contains certified sustainable calamari oil. Eco Omega has a much higher concentration of DHA than the best-selling fish oil. Eco Omega is a very pure, clean and renewable source of DHA and EPA Omega 3 oil.
