Product Overview

Description

Boswellic acids have been used for thousands of years in Ayurvedic Medicine, and are natural, selective 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX) enzyme inhibitors. There are six boswellic acids; however, AKBA is the most active acid. 5 LOXIN is patent-pending, providing a higher concentration of AKBA than other Boswellia serrata extracts, which typically contain only 2%-3%.

Highly Recommended for Arthritis Swelling and Pain

Posted by Reviewer1180650 on Jul 23, 2008

After 10 month on NSAIDs with severe swelling and lack of mobility in my knee due to advanced osteoarthritis, this product has been the first "breakthrough" after many trials with other alternative therapies. The concentration of AKBA, the active anti-inflammatory component of Boswellia, is ten times that of standardized Boswellia extracts. There is another proprietary product on the market with an even higher concentration of AKBA, Boswellia 90, but that product was actually TOO concentrated for me. I highly recommend this product!

Backache

Posted by Reviewer3316827 on Jul 16, 2010

I have permanent pain in my back bone (down). I used 2 kinds of boswellia but this one is much more efficient. The reason ( I think) is the higher concentration of AKBA, the active component. For me, 1 cap is enough for 18h to 24h. I found some recent research about the bio-availablity of boswellia: it could increase if it is taken with stevia (but to be confirmed). I take one cap the morning with my breakfeast in which I replace sugar by a very small quantity of stevia.

Works on our dog's arthritis

Posted by Reviewer1457137 on Oct 26, 2009

Two of these per day, mixed in with his food, works for our 13 year old dogs's inability to climb stairs. When I give it to him, he can do it, and get up from lying down, but if I forget, he cannot do either. It also works for my bursitis in my shoulder when it flares up.

Interesting-in-theory, reasonable price

Posted by Reviewer3088906 on Feb 02, 2008

I don't really have any major inflammatory problems, but it's mechanism of action (5-lipoxygenase inhibition) is unique. Advil (ibuprofen) and Aleve (naproxen) are all COX-1/COX-2 inhibitors. There's some other herbal anti-inflammatory that doesn't have any unique properties (is also a COX-1/COX-2 inhibitor) -- I don't think that taking this would be any more helpful or have fewer side effects than taking ibuprofen. It's pretty inexpensive, so you don't have much to lose. Definitely worth a try if you suffer from any inflammatory condition (e.g. osteoarthritis).
