Benfotiamine is the fat soluble form of vitamin B1 clinically tested to offer protection against advanced glycation end products, typically associated with blood glucose irregularities.
Benfotiamine, a fat-soluble form of vitamin B1 (thiamine), supports healthy blood sugar metabolism and helps protect the body’s tissues against advanced glycation end products and oxidative stress.66 For example, the enzyme transketolase is critical to blood sugar metabolism. Like many enzymes, transketolase requires a co-factor. In this case, it needs assistance from thiamine. Unfortunately, thiamine is water-soluble, which makes it less available to the interior of the cell. Benfotiamine is fat-soluble and can easily penetrate into the inside of cells. It is also more bioavailable than the water-soluble thiamine.
In a landmark study, benfotiamine effectively increased transketolase activity in cell cultures by an astounding 300%, compared to a mere 20% for thiamine. This robust activation was sufficient to block three of the four major metabolic pathways leading to blood vessel damage. Benfotiamine also blocks the activation of the transcription factor known as nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kB), which is implicated in numerous inflammatory conditions.
Overall, benfotiamine can activate glucose metabolism and promote healthy blood glucose levels in those already within normal range. Benfotiamine also helps maintain healthy endothelial function and supports the health of the nerves, kidneys, eyes, blood vessels, and heart.

I have been using Benfotiamine since Feb. 2008. I suffer from Hereditary Sensory Neuropathy, diagnosed by Mayo's in '97. My allopathic physicians all had me using addictive anti-depressant and or anti-anxiety meds to treat this, assuring me it would only worsen with time and NOTHING could be done. Internet research put me on to Benfotiamine and sure enough it worked even tho most of the information I encountered was concerning diabetic neuropathy. I started out at a high 1200mg dose and am now down to a maintenance level of 500mg once daily. No more prescription meds for this at all. I like the larger dose of 250mg--fewer pills to swallow. I much prefer healing to band-aiding the symptom and letting the disease just worsen. I am not completely pain free. Sometimes extended periods on my feet can still cause severe discomfort but it can now be remedied by rest whereas before it couldn't, but the nighttime ordeal of little sleep, of getting up to stand on a cold tile floor in the dead of winter, or chill my feet in the bathtub, or sleep in wet socks with a fan on my feet are over. Now when I go to sleep...my feet go pleasantly with me and they're actually under the covers.
I was having debilitating numbness and tingling from the residual sugars diabetes leaves in the small capilaries of my hands. I would have to change position all during the night because of painful numbness. If you haven't experienced it you can't know how something can be numb and painful at the same time. It can. Within three weeks the numbness and tingling has been greatly reduced. My work involves the use of my hands on a computer graphics tablet and I was worried that I could not carry on. Thank you for this wonderful product.

Ashame dicalcium phosphate is included
Posted by Reviewer3325005 on Jun 17, 2015
Excerpt on Dicalcium phosphate from Livestrong's website: According to evidence gathered by the National Library of Medication, National Institutes of Health, while calcium supplementation is often well-tolerated, high levels could upset the gastrointestinal system. Symptoms of gastrointestinal problems caused by dicalcium phosphate include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, constipation, stomach pain, thirst, dry mouth and increased urination. I'd continue buying this product if it weren't for the inclusion of the above ingredient. Defeats the purpose - adding harmful ingredients to a health product!
Great product, great price!!!!!!!!!!

helps with Reynaud's but can raise dopamine
Posted by KentuckyWildcat on May 21, 2014
I started taking this to help with Reynaud's. I started slowly (1 every few days) then graduated to 2 a day. My hands and feet felt warmer almost immediately. I could go outside in 30 degree weather without gloves (absolutely unheard of for me)! Then it appeared that perhaps taking it daily was too much, because I started having slight tachycardia. I researched it and benfotiamine is known to raise dopamine levels which affects heart rate. I stopped taking it and the tachycardia went away. So I will use this in the winter but take it sparingly (maybe 1 a day or 1 every other day would work better).
