Lotus Foods rices are selected for superior taste, fast and easy cooking, and nutritional value. We partner in fair trade with small family farmers to preserve local biodiversity and grow rice more sustainably. This means more healthy rice choices for you and your family, a cleaner environment, and improved quality of life for farmers.

Better for You - Our delicious and nutritious Jade Pearl is an organically grown sushi-style rice infused with wild-crafted bamboo extract made from the Moso bamboo species that flourishes in the virgin forests of Changde, China. Bamboo extract is a rich source of chlorophyll and an up-and-coming superfood. When cooked, Jade Peal Rice produces the aroma of a bamboo forest, a light vanilla taste, and an explosion of health-giving nutrients.

Better for People - Our pearled rice is grown on family farms in northeast China. Organic methods help preserve the region's fertile soils. The bamboo extract is infused into the rice in artisanal batches, guaranteeing better control and superior-quality.

Suggested Use

Do not rinse. Combine 1½ cups of water, 1 cup rice and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil over high heat. Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat. Let stand covered for a few minutes. Fluff and serve.

A rice cooker may be used with the same water-to-rice ratio.

  • 1 cup raw rice yields
  • 3 cups cooked rice

Use in any rice dish or cuisine, from savory to sweet. Makes an especially pretty plate presentation. Delicious in sushi, stuffing, risotto or desserts. Or just enjoy steamed plain with any vegetable, seafood or meat entree.

Other Ingredients

Organic white rice, wildcrafted bamboo extract.

Excellent source of minerals: manganese and molybdenum.

Contains 480 g bamboo extract per serving. Vegan.

Definitely has a light green color after cooking. Tastes good. Reheats well.

Tasty

Delicious, but small. Wish there were more product for the price. I used the whole bag within two days to make a few rolls of sushi and side dishes of rice.

i'm addicted!

Posted by Reviewer2415807 on Jun 27, 2012

At first I thought the taste was a little strange, and probably most people would agree. There is a very mild bitterness, not unlike green tea that offsets the sweetness of the rice. That is ultimately why I love this stuff now and why I made it my staple rice. The complexity makes meals a bit more sophisticated and interesting. The texture is soft and a little sticky which is another reason I love it so much. Take a little care when cooking, it goes from done to overcooked very quickly due to its delicate nature.

Mmmm Sticky Rice Stew

Posted by Reviewer3049214 on Jan 18, 2012

This is another Lotus Foods rice that I love. It is a tasty sticky rice that I use in stews. I haven't used it in veggie burgers yet, but I will, along with Black Forbidden Rice, its higher protein sister. It cooks quickly enough aand has a great story too tell, what with it being infused with bamboo. Try some soon!
