Looking for a quick and easy way to get the benefits of Steel Cut Oats?
Steel Cut Oats are a long standing tradition in Ireland where the rich soil and moist climate produce some of the finest oats in the world. One look tells you that Steel Cut Oats are different. The outer husk is removed from the oat kernel which is then cut into pieces using steel discs. That's it! (No steaming and rolling like conventional oats). The result is a truly distinct flavor and texture that delivers the goodness of unprocessed, 100% whole grain oats.
Diet experts and nutritionists are recommending Steel Cut Oats as the perfect start to your morning. A hearty bowl of McCann's Steel Cut Oats, unlike most highly processed breakfast cereals, gives you sustained energy to power you through your morning.
Ready in Minutes
We know you're in a hurry, so these oats blend state of the art technology with time honored tradition and need only 5 minutes to cook!
100% Whole Grain Goodness
McCann's Quick & Easy steel Cut Oats are a good source of soluble fiber.
Soluble fiber from oatmeal, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease. One serving of oatmeal supplies 1 gram of the 3 grams of beta glucan soluble fiber necessary per day to have this effect.
(For Each Serving)
Bring 3/4 cup of water to a boil. Add 1/4 cup McCann's Quick & Easy Steel Cut Oats. Reduce heat to low, simmer uncovered for 5-7 minutes, stirring regularly. Remove from heat and allow to stand for 1 minute before serving.
(For Each Serving)
Combine 3/4 cup of water with 1/4 cup of McCann's Quick & Easy Steel Cut Oats in a deep microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 3 minutes, stir and then cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove from microwave and allow to stand for 1 minute before serving.
Note: As microwaves are different, cooking times may vary.
For thicker oatmeal, use less water.

iHerb Customer Reviews
I didn't even know what i was missing out... Moved progressively from instant to rolled and ultimately steel cut. And i'm staying with steel cuts. INitially quite hesitant to try this one out because of the long (30mins!!) cooking time but McCann managed to cut that by more than 20%! Now all i gotta do is to pop these babies into the microwave for less than 10minutes (not even on the stove) and i get a steaming bowl of whole hearty oats. What's not to love~
I love waking up and making these steel-cut oats. They are quick and keep my energy levels strong through the morning. I actually wake up and can't wait to get this stuff on the stove. I mix in almonds/walnuts and cinnamon, then I add honey and dried fruit on top. Delicious! I wish it came in a larger can - but the size and weight is very manageable. I can't believe the price! Try it.

I switched to steel cut oatmeal a few years ago. I loved the flavor, but the 30 minute cooking time was challenging. A friend gave me a container of McCann's Irish Oatmeal about 18 months ago. I have eaten no other oatmeal since! All the great flavor and consistency of steel cut oats with a five minute cooking time. Try a serving size with 6 grams of flax meal stirred in after cooking and 75 grams of red seedless grapes for sweetening. You will love it! I started purchasing from iHerb.com when my grocery store was out of stock. Their price and service is great - I'll be buying this item on the web from now forward.

It cooks well if you use a microwave, which I do, and tastes very nice indeed.

Encountered those during my first order from Iherb. Up untill now we were eating oat flakes Quacker, so the oat taste is familiar. Then tried these! Good decision. Much tastier and as appeared healthier than the flakes. I add a bit of salt to a boiling water and a bit of sugar when the oats are ready. My 3 year old daughter loves it, even the 8 years old had tried and enjoyed (she doesnt eat flakes because of the "yuk" final texture, these have more solid texture). what more can I ask :) Will definately reorder. BTW the can itself doesnt have cutting edges so will use it as a crayons holder when emptied ;)

While not as tasty as the regular McCann's Irish Oatmeal, which takes a while to prepare, I prefer it to the other brands available, and as the label says, it is quick and easy. If you are looking for a good oat meal, it is worth a try.
