Looking for a quick and easy way to get the benefits of Steel Cut Oats?
Steel Cut Oats are a long standing tradition in Ireland where the rich soil and moist climate produce some of the finest oats in the world. One look tells you that Steel Cut Oats are different. The outer husk is removed from the oat kernel which is then cut into pieces using steel discs. That's it! (No steaming and rolling like conventional oats). The result is a truly distinct flavor and texture that delivers the goodness of unprocessed, 100% whole grain oats.
Diet experts and nutritionists are recommending Steel Cut Oats as the perfect start to your morning. A hearty bowl of McCann's Steel Cut Oats, unlike most highly processed breakfast cereals, gives you sustained energy to power you through your morning.
Ready in Minutes
We know you're in a hurry, so these oats blend state of the art technology with time honored tradition and need only 5 minutes to cook!
100% Whole Grain Goodness
McCann's Quick & Easy steel Cut Oats are a good source of soluble fiber.
Soluble fiber from oatmeal, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease. One serving of oatmeal supplies 1 gram of the 2 grams of beta glucan soluble fiber necessary per day to have this effect.
Range Top (For Each Serving)
Bring 3/4 cup of water to a boil. Add 1/4 cup McCann's Quick & Easy Steel Cut Oats. Reduce heat to low, simmer uncovered for 5-7 minutes, stirring regularly. Remove from heat and allow to stand for 1 minute before serving.
Microwave (For Each Serving)
Combine 3/4 cup of water with 1/4 cup of McCann's Quick & Easy Steel Cut Oats in a deep microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 3 minutes, stir and then cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove from microwave and allow to stand for 1 minute before serving.
Note: As microwaves are different, cooking times may vary.
For thicker oatmeal, use less water.

I didn't even know what i was missing out... Moved progressively from instant to rolled and ultimately steel cut. And i'm staying with steel cuts. INitially quite hesitant to try this one out because of the long (30mins!!) cooking time but McCann managed to cut that by more than 20%! Now all i gotta do is to pop these babies into the microwave for less than 10minutes (not even on the stove) and i get a steaming bowl of whole hearty oats. What's not to love~
1) Make sure you have a BIG bowl... I tried it the first time in a normal sized one and it boiled over the sides 2) I add already boiling water and then nuke for 5 minutes at full strength covered -- I'm in Asia with 240v so my micro might run hotter than yours.... then I let it sit for a few minutes 3) I add a dash of milk AFTER it's been cooked, this seems to really add to the texture Add fruit or other... iherb has some dried apples which I find work really well. Makes for a very filling and satisfying meal

I like the longer cooking steel cut oatmeal because I soak it over night with a little apple cider vinegar but this is great for those times I forget to do that..
I finally found what I was looking for.

A very good product however the cost plus postage is a bit expensive. I would like to be able to purchase it in my local supermarket .
