Glutathione is one of the most powerful antioxidant found inside every single cell of one's body. The liver is one of the most important organ in the body as it carries out detoxification processes. Needless to say, the liver contains lots of glutathione and uses those during detoxification. Alcohol consumption(leading to high level of toxicity within the body) can cause the rapidly depletion of glutathione. What milk thistle does is enhances the regeneration of liver cells which prevents the depletion of glutathione levels inside the liver. Some pain around the abdomen may be experienced during the initial stage of taking milk thistle. I suspect this could be due to the milk thistle working its magic on my damaged liver. The pain is nothing compared to the health of one's liver and should subside within a couple of days.
