Suggested Use

Chocolate School 101

  1. Slice: Use a knife to shave cacao butter into thin pieces and place into a small bowl.
  2. Melt: Raw Method - Put very hot water into a larger bowl and place the smaller bowl with the shavings into larger bowl. Set aside until melted. Speedier method - Use a double boiler on a stove top to melt shavings, be careful not to get water into cacao butter.
  3. Mix: Add the powder packet to the melted butter and stir until smooth*. Sprinkle cacao nibs evenly into 12 molds of an ice cube tray, then top with the chocolate mix.
  4. Freeze: Freeze until solid.
  5. Eat: Pop chocolates out of mold and serve. Will keep at room temperature.

Just made this with my 3 year old. We added 1/2 dropper of stevia (sweetleaf brand) and 1 Tbs of xylitol. I purchased a cheap candy mold(unicorn) off Amazon and this made about 30 tiny 1" candies. I am not only surprised how delicious these are but actually shocked. I will buy this as gifts with a $2 mold and instructions to sweeten ;)

Great gift!

Posted by Reviewer2910193 on Jan 24, 2011

It is much cheaper to buy cocoa powder and butter and so on separate, and mix it yourself, BUT I think this is a great "first time making chocolate"-kit. I have never made myself, so I didn't have to find a recipe and so on.. just mix this. For curious people and as a gift idea to someone new to superfoods/raw chocolate, I would highly recommend it for the same reasons. Simple, tasty and HEALTHY fun. Good instructions. Will buy again, but as a gift. The nibs where great too!

DARK chocolate!

Posted by Reviewer2861280 on Oct 13, 2010

This Kit was really fun. I found that it made approximately 1 less chocolate piece than the directions indicated, and in retrospect some kind of small mold would have probably worked a lot better than the ice cube tray. But the chocolate was great! It was extremely, extremely dark, which I loved. A little too dark for my husband though. Next time I will add a little stevia to the mix to sweeten it up.
