Indol 3 Carbinol and Breast Cancer, November 11, 2006
From Michigan
This product taken with Tamoxifen makes the Tamo more effective. See Life Extension article regarding this. I have been cancer free for two years and counting. I was diagnosed Stage 3C, so this is really good!!! I truly believe the Indole 3 Carbinol has helped me.

Hard to find, but worth it., May 31, 2008
From Kentucky
I have had trouble finding this particular supplement, so I am glad that iHerb carries it. All the supplements I am taking are part of a regimen compiled for me by my holistic care nurse to support my health during chemotherapy. I have been in treatment for most of the past eight years, and I do not look nor feel like a cancer patient. Most people do not know I am even in treatment still. They assume I am well -- and that is how I feel.

Brocoli in a capsule?, April 25, 2008
From Oklahoma
Supposed to be good for maintaining a healthy hormone profile(reduce bad estrogens/raise good estrogens), protect healthy cells from herpes infection, and help keep cancer at bay. One of the compounds that makes cruciferous vegetables good for you. Even Bush senior could add this to his diet!

Now Foods, Indole-3-Carbinol with Flax Lignans, 200 mg, 60 Vcaps, March 16, 2009
From Minnesota
A growing body of evidence documents the potent inhibition of the growth and invasion of a number of human cancers by indole-3-carbinol, a natural constituent of cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower. Its effects have been particularly well studied in its suppression of human breast cancer. A very interesting new (2008) study further reports that I3C is a natural elastase enzymatic inhibitor that disrupts cyclin E protein processing, causing a G1 cell-cycle arrest (stopping progression of cell division) of human breast cancer cells. As the authors explain, “I3C acts as a specific and potent noncompetitive enzymatic inhibitor of human neutrophil elastase activity, which is highly expressed in breast cancer cells and has been shown to be a prognostic marker for reduced survival rates of primary breast cancer patients." In another recent study, 2 researchers report that I3C inhibits cell proliferation and in vitro markers of angiogenesis (expansion of tumor blood supply) in human endothelial cells in the presence of phorbol myristate acetate, a potent angiogenesis stimulator.

Unbeatable price, perfect amount per cap, February 15, 2008
From California
For a semi-generic brand, I've never had any complaints about Now Foods products. IC3 is not cheap, and this is an excelent price and has the ideal amount per capsule for most people who need this. The bottle says 1-3 per day, but more than 1 per day seems excessive for most needs.

Testosterone tests showed increase, July 12, 2009
From North Carolina
This honestly happened. I'm a 54-year old male, trying to work out and get back in shape, but I felt tired and my muscles were slow to respond. So when I went in for a regular physical I asked for a T test. It came in "a little low," around 240. I started taking 400 IC3/day, because I read it keeps T from converting to E. When I went in for another blood test (other reasons), we tested T again. It was normal, around 350. So now I take 800 IC3/day. (Why not? It has other health benefits, is cheap, and I feel better, too.)

DIM or I3C?, October 24, 2008
From Florida
Good stuff. I helps keep bad estrogen down. It also activates the immune system in your gut so it's good for Candida. However, I'm not sure if it's better to take I3C or DIM.

Indole-3-Carbinol, November 04, 2008
From New Mexico
My doctor recommended that I take this to possibly reverse scar tissue damage caused by cervical cancer. I've only been taking it a few weeks, but have noticed that I'm more regular, and have actually lost a few pounds! She suggested that I take it for 3 months then go in for an exam to see if there is any improvement. We'll see!
