NOW Kelp delivers the natural nutrient profile found in Genuine Whole Foods.
Kelp is a large, leafy brown algae that belongs to the seaweed family and grows in the colder waters of the world's oceans. It is a good source of marine minerals, including potassium, magnesium, calcium and iron. It is also an excellent source of iodine, which has been shown to support healthy thyroid function. Your thyroid gland is responsible for producing the hormones that support normal cellular metabolism. As with most green foods, kelp also contains vitamins and cell salts essential for good nutrition.
As a dietary supplement, take 1 tablet daily, preferably with meals, or as directed by your health care practitioner. Consider taking this product in combination with NOW Thyroid Energy, L-Tyrosine and Organic Virgin Coconut Oil.

iHerb Customer Reviews
I have been on thyroid meds for years. It's just slightly sluggish and found my prescription medication just wasn't working for me anymore. I was gaining weight and it was getting out of control. Nothing I did helped. Exercising, dieting, nothing. So I read an article about sea kelp with iodine helping to regulate slightly low thyroid. I have noticed in the past week that my pants seem to fit better and I don't have to struggle to get into them anymore. The sea kelps cost is low and I'm very happy now.
Great product! I went from dragging to dancing in three weeks.
Little bit of a taste, but not bad

It does what I need it to do, supplying enough iodine to meet the minimum daily requirement. Tablets are easy to break in half.

As far as kelp goes, this seems as good as any. I didn't see any positive effects but short-term those are hard to detect if nothing is really wrong in the first place. However, I have acne-prone skin and the iodine in these made me break out. Took me a while to realize it was the kelp but as soon as I stopped taking it, my skin started improving. I guess that proves that it does contain a decent amount of iodine, as that is known to cause break-outs.

Kelp didn't help me

I bought these a long time ago and they're still sitting in my cupboard three quarters full. I was very sick and had a lot of the symptoms of hypothyroid. I was actually too sick to leave the house to go to the doctor, so I ordered some of these, hoping they would help. They didn't, in fact I think they made me feel worse, so I stopped taking them. It turns out I have PAWS (protracted antidepressant withdrawal syndrome), from coming off my lexapro too fast. I didn't realize that you had to taper very slowly, especially if you have been on antidepressants as long as I have. These are probably good for someone with genuine hypo-thyroid issues. But I have pseudo-thyroid issues along with a lot of other imbalances caused by long term antidepressant use and stopping too fast.
