I've been taking L-Tyrosine and 5-HTP for depression and anxiety for about three weeks now. The results have been absolutely amazing. This works *far* better than any prescription anti-depressant SSRI I've been prescribed. Not only has my depression and anxiety dissipated, I actually feel energetic and alive! I read about these in Dr. Priscilla Slagle's book "The Way Up From Down" and also in Julia Ross's "The Mood Cure". I've been following Slagle's basic program which involves a very high-quality Multi Vitamin Mineral (M.V.M.), a high-quality Co-Enzyme B Complex that contains the proper form of B6 (P-5-P), and an extra 50mg of B6 (Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate / P-5-P) with each dose of L-Tyrosine or 5-HTP. I also take Vitamin C. Here's what I take: L-Tyrosine 1500mg + P-5-P 50mg on an empty stomach upon first waking up. I wait an hour before breakfast so it absorbs properly. M.V.M., B-Complex, Vitamin C 1-2000mg with breakfast L-Tyrosine 1500mg + P-5-P 50mg mid-afternoon on an empty stomach. M.V.M., B-Complex, Vitamin C 1-2000mg with dinner 5-HTP 100-150mg + P-5-P 50mg before bed on an empty stomach (makes me sleepy) The 5-HTP increases serotonin, and the L-Tyrosine increases dopamine and norepinephrine. So unlike a typical SSRI like Prozac that only increases serotonin, this increases these three neurotransmitters that regulate mood. Highly recommended if you're suffering from depression/anxiety and nothing you've tried so far seems to completely work.
Someone suggested that we try L-Tyrosine as a natural treatment for our daughter's ADHD. This amino acid has worked extremely well for us. We have had very few behavior problems since she has started taking this supplement.

I've been a meth user on and off for the past 10 years, that can cause dopamine depletion. Dosages says 500mg a day, but did some research on it and it's safe to use up to 7000mg. After bumping up my dosage to 2000mg three times a day I can already feel a difference on my focus, feel more joy, more alive then ever before. Was diagnosed with ADD at the age 20, been taking ritalin also for a small period of time, but that gave me so much headache I had to stop. So after quitting drugs all together and adding this product + replacing coffee with green tea(L-theanine) has cured my depression, anxiety, poor focus and given me so much motivation! Hope this helps someone :)
Good for ADHD

Since taking prescription amphetamines for ADHD, I found myself burnt out and exhausted from low dopamine. A tapering schedule and L-Tyrosine helped me to recover quicker than I have previously from taking this script and I feel so much more myself than I thought I could! This is also a great study tool as it helps me to focus without the speedy effect of the medication.

This tyrosine really works. I just received it three days ago and it worked on me the very first time I took it. It really has given me so much more energy and endurance just in a short three days. Everyone is different so each of us should work with it and figure out what is the best dosage for our selves. I have read every review in here on the tyrosine and it seems that it will affect each of us in a different way. I have really been in great need of this supplement and am so glad that I found it just by reading reviews of all the other supplements that I take. It helps to convert the T4 into the T3 so it seems to me it gives the thyroid a badly needed jump start for me. It has decreased my hunger and appetite also. My energy is really soaring like I used to me many years ago. I am 72 next month so for me to become so alive on this supplement it verifies how good it is. Give it a try as it may really help with energy, fatigue and endurance and also with reducing my hunger and appetite. This also helps with my asthma as I can now breath much much better. I can now use inhalers only once a day and sometimes skip a few days. It really does help tremendously with my energy levels and it also really helps keep my hunger and appetite under control. It's like a miracle for my breathing.
