Oat Bran is the nutrient-dense outer husk of oat grain. It's an excellent source of fiber. NOW Real Food Oat Bran is a good natural additive to most baked goods and is primarily used to boost fiber content. It adds texture and imparts a subtle nutty flavor that's ideal for breads and muffins, and it's a flavorful addition to cereals, or as a topping for breads and muffins that adds color and improves taste.

Soluble fiber from foods such as oat bran, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease. A serving of NOW Real Food Oat Bran supplies 3 grams of soluble fiber.

My kid's cereal substitute.

Posted by AllyAw on Apr 28, 2014

My kid's breakfast is cereal & milk ever since he started eating solid foods. I recently found that his cereal by Nestle, is sweet & his milk contains sucrose. I dread about sugar & metabolic syndrome & I do not want him to get accustomed to eating sweet food only. So I have been gradually substituting the sweetened Nestle cereal with Oat Bran. The only difference in preparation is I need really hot water to soak the Oat Bran for 2 minutes & it is ready to eat. The other advantage is I am reducing his gluten exposure because Nestle contains wheat. My toddler has no complaints & I am happy. ======================================================================================================= If you found this review helpful, please let me know by clicking the “Yes” button below the review. I had never eaten oat bran before, but this was wonderful! I recommend adding some brown sugar to it though as the unaltered taste is bland(like most oats).
