Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Avamin?

Cyanocobalamin, the most common form of vitamin B12 available as supplements, does not occur in nature and is not usable by body tissues. Cyanocobalamin must first be absorbed into your blood stream and converted to bioactive B12 by your liver. Common vitamin B12 supplements (cyanocobalamin) are harmful for people with certain rare eye diseases. Avamin, the active ingredient in Avamin Melts, is a bioactive form of vitamin B12. Because it is in bioactive form, it is instantly available for absorption and use your mouth lining cells without first being processed by your liver and it is not harmful to any body tissues.

Why are Avamin Melts a better delivery form under the tongue or injections?

B12 delivered under the tongue or by injection provides B12 to the blood and the entire body. Direct application of Avamin to your mouth lining tissues with Avamin Melts allows higher concentration of bioactive B12 in the mouth lining tissues than can be achieved by distribution through your blood.

Will Avamin Melts give me all the vitamin B12 that I need?

Yes. 500 micrograms is about 100 times more than the daily requirement. Enough will absorb through the mouth lining into your blood stream to more than meet your daily requirements.

What if someone swallows a whole vial of Avamin Melts?

Though not recommended, Avamin Melts taken in such quantities are not harmful. There are no warnings or risks.

Suggested Use

Use at least one a day to prevent painful mouth sores.

Use after brushing teeth, at least once a day, and allow to dissolve for 30 minutes with nothing else in your mouth. In an area of your mouth where you experience sores, use your tongue to hold the dimpled side of the disc against a tooth until it adheres.

The disc will slowly dissolve over 10 to 40 minutes, releasing Avamin bioactive B12 which is absorbed directly into the mouth lining.

When you first start using Avamin Melts, use three discs the first day to quickly boost the level of bioactive B12 in your mouth tissues. Thereafter, use at least one disc each day. If you miss a day, use at least two discs the next day. If you miss two or more days, begin with three discs the first day you resume.

Vary the spots you place the disc from day to day in the places where you frequently experience sores, such as front tooth against your lip, on the inside of a lower tooth to protect under your tongue, and on the outside of a molar in each cheek. If you have a sore, place the disc near the sore.
