Sodium ascorbate is non-acidic (pH neutral), making it gentle on the digestive system. It provides the sodium necessary to carry out the active absorption of ascorbic acid. Vitamin C plays a vital role in the formation of collagen (a structural protein in connective tissue), amino acid metabolism and hormone synthesis, and the utilization of many nutrients, such as folic acid and iron. It is also a key factor in the body's immune system.

Great for Gout
Great for Gout
I have gout for many years and has been searching remedy for it. I have tried celery seed, cherry, etc. Sometime back, I came across an article which explain how gout occur and how the body deal with it. I decided to tried Vitamin C, sodium ascorbate. I took 2 gm of sodium ascorbate daily. After 2 months, I decided to test it effectiveness by taking beer. I drink 1 can of beer every few days for a whole month, there was no sympton of any gout attack. Great. Before taking Vit C, I knew that if I drink more than 1 can of beer per week, I will have gout attack. I will be taking Vit C, regularly.
not so useful
Great if you can't tolerate ascorbic acid or as salt

As a naturopath, I've been recommending vitamin C for over 20 years. Usually I recommend plain ascorbic acid as it is more easily absorbed in the body, but for those who can't tolerate the acid, this is one of the best solutions. One tip for those who don't like the salty taste when you disolve it in water: Try using it on food instead of salt, like on avocado, in salads or homemade spreads, or even on popcorn. It is a great way to get the vitamin C in, and is much less harmful than regular salt! (We've given it to people with high blood pressure and it didn't have the hypertensive effect that regular salt has)
I am at the end of my first dosage.

I noticed withdrawing white dots from nails that are an indication of a lack of vitamins.
