different flavor and texture

Posted by KentuckyWildcat on Aug 06, 2012

These raisins are from South Africa, which might explain the difference in flavor and texture from the typical raisins found here in the USA. Yes, they are plumper and juicier, but to me the flavor is odd and the texture is almost gritty. They also left a weird after-taste in my mouth. I thought maybe it was just me, but my friend tried them also and agreed with me. Oh well, never try, never know!

Tasty raisins! Large, about 2 centimeters, juicy, sweet! Вкусный изюм. Крупный, около 2 сантиметров, сочный, сладкий

Like most products I purchase that are made in France, these raisins are juicy and have a well-rounded flavor other than just heavy sweetness. "Made in France" translates to the smart shopper as "better quality than what you're used to." In contrast, eating Sunmaid oven-dried raisins is like chomping on hard bubblegum -- for the birdfeeder at best.
