Chai is an integral part of life in India and simply translates to 'Tea' in Hindi. Calling it 'Chai tea' is considered redundant. Chaiwallahs' (tea vendors) are present at street corners brewing basic black tea with spices especially during early morning.
500 Mile Chai
The tale of '500 Mile Chai' originates from the many late night truck drivers stopping at small Chai stands 'Dhabas' on the highway and asking for really strong, sweet Chai to help them drive long distances (in a humorous tone - 'for another 500 miles').
Choice of the Leaf
The grade of tea commonly used for Chai is known as 'Cut, Tear and Curl (CTC)', representing a heavily rolled leaf pellet with very low moisture content. It is ideal for boiling, which is the traditional way to make Chai.
Once the leaf has been optimally boiled, adding milk and sugar provides a delightful 'Golden Glow'.
We hand blend the organic black tea with organic spices - ginger, cloves, cardamom and cinnamon.
Chaiwallahs in India offer chai in simple kettles and small tapered glasses. 'Kasoras' (Chai Cups) made of low fired clay are also famous for imparting a distinct 'Earthiness' to the brew.
Use one teaspoon of 500 Mile Chai for eight ounces water. Bring to full boil for three minutes. Add whole milk/soy milk (in ratio of 1/4th milk to 3/4 water), and let boil another two minutes. Strain and sweeten to taste.
100% organic black tea leaves, 100% organic cinnamon, 100% organic dried ginger, 100% organic cloves, 100% organic cardamom.

This product was everything I wanted it to be. A very strong and flavor chai that tastes like authentic masala indian chai. I loved it and will continue to buy.
Fragrant and delicious

My favourite tea from The Tao of Tea, gives a great start of the day or a boost throughout. Mild enough not to be overpowering but flavoursome from the added spices. Ļoti garšīga tēja, mana iecienītākā no šī ražotāja. Garšvielas piešķir papildus garšu, jo ilgāk atstāj ievilkties, jo pikantāka tā būs. Lielisks iesākums jaunai dienai vai uzmundrinājumam dienas vidū!

Honestly I ordered it months ago and had not tried it. I have a lot of other teas and my pantry looks like and old Medicine men's store. The can had fallen behind a big bottle of vitamins. I remembered it today and went to look for it. I only mentioned because some had mentioned that it had no taste and mine has been in there for months and is still very good, it did not lose potency. You have to follow instructions, this tea you will have to boil to get all the flavors to melt together not steep. I made some right away and I'm enjoying it right now. I fell in love with the flavor years ago when I was sick and wanted something hot as soothing for my throat and still love it today. Give it a try. I too like other reviewer love the container it comes in.
Must have 3 times amount to taste like CHAI

I am very disappointed in this Chai. It supposedly calls for 1 teaspoon for 8oz. of water. This leaves it like slightly flavored water. To get it to taste properly I had to bump it up to a Tablespoon. This is three times the amount called for on the Tao for Tea Chai can. Basically, it is all show and no go. The packaging is very pretty but that can't make up for what the inside lacks. I would not even pay 1/2 the price I did pay for it. I suggest buying another brand. I CAN NOT RECOMMEND this Chai. It is so lacking I had to add cinnamon and some stevia to try to bring out the flavor even using 3 times as much. Bottom line: DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!
