- Dietary Supplement
Citramins II contains the same array of macrominerals and trace minerals as Citramins, but without copper and iron. There are individuals who do not need iron, including women who are no longer menstruating and most men. Individuals at low risk for an iron deficiency often do not need supplemental iron unless they have a chronic condition that renders them iron deficient. While copper is an essential cofactor for many enzymes in the body, some individuals have developed copper toxicity due to disease processes or external exposure to copper (for example, copper pipes). Therefore, Citramins II provides a highly absorbable mineral chelate formula without these two minerals.
Many companies provide minerals that are chelated, or bound to, whole proteins or peptides from potentially allergenic substances like soy, calling them amino acid chelates. Thorne Research's individual minerals are chelated to amino acids or organic acids via a molecular reaction that provides a predictable, high quality, hypoallergenic chelate.
Individuals at high risk for mineral deficiencies include the elderly due to deteriorating digestion, children and teenagers because of poor diet, individuals with eating disorders, and those suffering from chronic diseases. Certain prescription medications can also result in mineral deficiencies. The amount of minerals in fruits and vegetables depends on the soil they are grown in; therefore, even healthy individuals who maintain a good diet can be at risk for mineral deficiencies because of mineral-depleted soil.

I like this product because it has the minerals I need and it doesn't have copper, which I have too much of. I was zinc deficient and had a problem with a wound not healing for over a month. I noticed a significant improvement after taking this product for just one week.
So hard to find a complete mineral supplement without any iron. Here it is -- I've been taking this for years and used to buy it from my doctor's office for more than it sells for here. Happy to save some money!

I chose this because it doesn't have the iron and copper and was recommended by mercola as a good mineral replacement if you are dealing with mercury toxicity. I must admit after having some mercury amalgams removed I experienced improvement in mercury toxicity symptoms after using this product AND taking magnesium, magnesium baths and possibly the activated charcoal I took may have helped too but only took one dose, so don't know. I have continued taking citrimins ll and feel like it is a good supplement.
