The length of time for the expiration date or "best used before" date depends on the type of product, as well as the brand.
Perishable items (such as flax oils or certain probiotics) generally have shorter expiration dates. Although our warehouse is fully air-conditioned, these more fragile items are put in cold storage (freezer or refrigeration unit) for maximum freshness.
Our receiving department does its best to verify and then enter the correct expiration dates for all incoming products. However, discrepancies do occur from time to time. This being said, the exceptionally high turnover at iHerb ensures that our inventory is among the freshest in the industry.

Traditional organic sucanat. Sucanat stands for sugar cane natural.
Wholesome Sweeteners' Organic Sucanat is simply dehydrated, freshly squeezed sugar cane juice. The sugar cane is cut daily, crushed and the juice is heated to reduce it to a thick syrup, which is stirred by hand to create the sucanat granule. The sugar cane's molasses is locked in giving it a rich distinctive taste.
Sucunat is great for baking, especially in chocolate-based recipes, BBQ sauces & marinades. Perfect on hot-cereals and in beverages. Use as a 1-for- 1 replacement for refined sugar.
Organic Kosher and Fair Trade certified & suitable for Vegan and Halal diets. Not filtered through animal by-products. Not blended for separated. A source of iron and potassium.

Sucanat is produce from certified organic sugar cane grown on sustainable family farms in Costa Rica. The sucanat mills is energy self-sufficient - we use the crushed cane stalks, called bagasse, as fuel for the boilers which generates the electricity for the mill, so we don't need to use fossil fuels. We "green cut" the cane- which means that we do not burn or spray the fields and the sugar cane is cut by hand. The leaves and tops of the cane plant are left in the field as a nutrient source for the soil and as a natural form of weed control.
Marilu's Effortless Brownies:
1½ sticks butter or margarine (preferable soy)
12 ounces semi-sweet baking chocolate (chips melt very quickly)
2 cups Organic Sucanat
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
5 large cage-free organic eggs, beaten
1¼ cups unbleached flour
½ teaspoon sea salt
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13x9 inch metal baking pan. In a 3-quart saucepan over low heat, melt the margarine and chocolate. With a wooden spoon, stir in the sucanat and vanilla. Beat in the egg until well blended. Stir the flour and salt into the chocolate mixture just until blended. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan. Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted 1 inch from the edge of the pan comes out clean. Cool completely in the pan. When cool, cut into 24 squares.
