Wholesome Sweeteners' Organic Sugar is a blond, delicious, natural sweetener, perfect for sprinkling, baking and in hot & cold drinks. Made from freshly squeezed Organic Sugar Cane juice, which is evaporated and crystallized on the same day it is harvester. Use as a 1-for-1 organic replacement for refined sugar.
Monica's Jeweled Slices
2 stick butter
1/2 cup Wholesome Sweeteners' Organic Sugar
1 1/2 cups plain unbleached flour
Pinch of sea salt
1/2 cup glace cherries, washed and chopped
1/2 cup flaked almonds, chopped
1/2 cup candied peel, chopped
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Cream together the butter and sugar until just blended, then work in the flour and salt, followed by half the cherries, almonds and candied peel. Knead lightly and chill for 15 minutes.
Roll out about 1/4-inch thick into a rectangle and cut into fingers of approximately 1 inch. Place the fingers onto a greased baking tray and decorate with the remaining cherries, almond and candied peel.
Prick the fingers lightly with a fork all over, then bake for about 20 minutes until pale gold, but do not allow to brown. Place the cookies carefully on a wire rack to cool.
