What is Xylitol?
Xylitol is a natural sweetener derived from the fibrous parts of plants. Similar in taste to regular sugar, but with a significant difference-xylitol has a low glycemic index and is low in calories. Additionally, xylitol has a natural, cooling and moisturizing effect. The xylitol molecule contains only 5 carbon atoms rather than 6 like most other sugars. This molecular difference is the key to xylitol's beneficial qualities.
A delicious, low–calorie sweetener:
XyloSweet has all the sweetness of common sugars, yet has 40% fewer calories. XyloSweet is an ideal alternative sweetener in foods prepared for weight loss or for anyone concerned about the overuse of sugar in their diet.* But XyloSweet's low calorie characteristics are only the beginning of its nutritional benefits.
Low Glycemic Index:
XyloSweet can be substituted for most common sweeteners without compromising taste or texture. Unlike so many other sugar alternatives, XyloSweet does not have any aftertaste and it is metabolized without insulin, so it creates a significantly lower glycemic effect when eaten. Regular sugar has a glycemic index score of 85 to 100 compared to XyloSweet's glycemic index of only 7. This is great news for anyone who has to control their sugar consumption and choose foods low in glycemic effects.
Xylitol has been studied extensively and has some unique health benefits. Xylitol has natural cooling, moisturizing and other health-promoting effects. Xylitol is used in dental and health-care products like the Spry Dental Defense System and Xlear Nasal Spray. Talk to your dentist or dental hygienist about how xylitol can play an important role in improving your overall health.
Xylitol usage is endorsed by the following Dental Associations: Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, British, Irish and Estonian.
Net Carbs are determined by subtracting those carbohydrates that have a negligible effect on blood sugar levels from total carbohydrates. Xylitol is a sugar alcohol that has minimal impact on blood sugar levels.
*Xylitol requires a brief period of tolerance adjustment. It is suggested that XyloSweet be used in gradually increasing portions over a period of three to six weeks before it is entirely substituted for common sugar.
When cooking, replace sugar with XyloSweet in equal measurements. XyloSweet is heat–stable for cooking and baking. It also mixes and dissolves just like common sugar.**
**XyloSweet will not cause breads and pastries to rise and is not a good choice for hard candies since it will not crystallize when heated. Xylitol is not recommended for sweetening juices and instant beverages that require large amounts of sweetener.
100% pure xylitol - No fillers, flow agents or other additives.

iHerb Customer Reviews
Started using this product and loved it. I think I used about two or three teaspoons in large glass of water per day. After about one week, I noticed a need to pee but HARD to pee problem. I'm male, in EXCELLENT health, but started thinking possible pancreatic swelling whatever. Started doing research and quickly noticed that I was ALREADY taking many support supplements for the pancreas. SO, quickly deduced that possible xylitol complication as it was the only new product change in diet. Stopped using xylitol. And urination problem CLEARED UP within two days! Figured I must report this as someone else is gonna have the same little scare.
I was about to order Xlear's bag of Xylitol when I decided to check out where it comes from. Like many people, I try hard to avoid any food products or ingredients from China. So I called Xlear customer service rep at (877) 599-5327. She immediately and firmly said that all Xlear Xylitol comes from China. She added, "Most of the Xylitol you're going to find WILL be from China." As much as I love Xylitol, I'm determined not to buy any from China. I'm willing to pay more to avoid consuming any food or supplements from China. . . . . You can find other products I use on my Page! I use only products that have Scientifically Proven benefits.

I know Xylitol was good for dental health because we use a toothpaste with Xylitol, but last year my sister and sister-in-law turned me on to using xylitol instead of sugar. I purchased this brand from iHerb and have been very pleased. My husband and I both like a small bit of sugar in our morning coffee. This is a great alternative to sugar. We were using organic cane sugar products, but now have switched to Xylitol and love it. It can have a laxative effect at first, but just use a little less and no problems. Great for cooking instead of sugar. Started with the 1 lb bag to see if we liked it, but now I purchase the 5 lb bag.

Doesn't lump up, no unusual digestive side effect, only need a litle in hot or cold drinks to neutralise sour or bitterness. Will buy again.

Xylitol is an ideal sugar replacement since it is a low calorie sweetener with no aftertaste. It is nice that this is gluten free, as well as non-GMO.
