Whole Grain Amaranth (a-mah-ran-th) is an ancient "grain." And being thousands of years old doesn't keep this "grain" from combining with other ingredients to create delicious flavorful soups, breads and even dressings.
- 1 cup Arrowhead Mills Amaranth
- 3 cups cold water
Put amaranth and water in saucepan with lid. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 25 minutes. Grains will absorb water and bind together.
Makes 3 cups.
Organic whole amaranth grain
Store in a cool dry place.

I have read that Amaranth is a high-protein healthy "grain" (actually it is a seed). Did not know what to expect since I had never tried it before, but it's very good. Soak it about 8 hours, then cook for about 15 minutes by simmering. You do not want to overcook, since the grains are VERY tiny. Drain through a sieve. Has a pleasant flavor.
The sproutpeople.com website say amaranth doesn't even need soaking. Just moisten and sprout. But I found I had to soak for an hour because these tiny seeds would fall right through the holes in my mesh strainer! They were ready to enjoy in just 12 hours! Tasty! Easy! Nutritious!

a friend told me about this wonderful breakfast ... add abit of sea salt, maple syrup to sweeten, a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg and add almond milk to boot... delicious and easy to prepare!

I enjoyed this ancient grain. It was surprisingly very small, but it's very nutritious above modern grains! Tastes great when popped and added to homemade granola!

너무 작아서 씻기 어렵네요 거름망에 넣고 살살 흔들어 씻어서 압력솥밥 할때 한 줌씩 넣으니 날치알밥처럼 돌아다녀요 건강식이다 하고 참고 먹어요
