Buckwheat groats are gluten free seeds from a plant related to rhubarb. First cultivated in Southeast Asia thousands of years age, in time buckwheat journeyed west and took root in Eastern Europe, where it became the star of many classic dishes. Buckwheat provides complete protein, including all the essential amino acids. Use buckwheat groats in any recipe that calls for whole grains. The bold flavor is delicious in porridge, pilaf, soups and salads.

Basic Cooking Instructions: Combine 1 cup buckwheat groats and 2 cups water in a pot. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat to simmer and cook until tender, about 10 minutes. Drain off any excess liquid, if using in a salad, rinse with cold water and drain will.
Makes 4 servings (about 2 1/2 cups).

I love this product. I soak it overnight in water, drain it and dehydrate it for about 3 hours on very low heat. It dries to a crisp and I snack on it as if it is nuts, or maybe I'm nuts! Tastes great, is crunchy and is even good in cottage cheese or as a cereal with cold milk.
I was a little apprehensive about ordering these because it doesn't say raw on the package, but they sprouted well for me. I did the short soak, and put them in a sprouting jar for a couple days, and little tails emergerd! Great for making blender pancakes, tossing into a soup, or just toasting and eating with some honey. Just remember that these are a fruit - my daughter has allergies to seemingly all fruits, and cannot eat buckwheat either.

I am new to buckwheat. Even though I can't say I love it like quinoa, it is a healthy alternative to rice, and I am happy with the quality of this product.

Used this for partial replacement of rice. It is quite starchy so it makes a good risotto!(:

Im mostly used to roasted buckwheat and this one is easy to cook the right way.
