The length of time for the expiration date or "best used before" date depends on the type of product, as well as the brand.
Perishable items (such as flax oils or certain probiotics) generally have shorter expiration dates. Although our warehouse is fully air-conditioned, these more fragile items are put in cold storage (freezer or refrigeration unit) for maximum freshness.
Our receiving department does its best to verify and then enter the correct expiration dates for all incoming products. However, discrepancies do occur from time to time. This being said, the exceptionally high turnover at iHerb ensures that our inventory is among the freshest in the industry.

"Groat" is an old Scottish word from hundreds of years ago, that refers to cereal made from whole, hull-less oats. They take a bit longer to prepare than cut or rolled oats, but the exceptionally hearty flavor and chewy subtlety of this wholesome porridge make it well worth the wait. Oats are a very good source of soluble fiber, which prevents cholesterol from entering the bloodstream, so start the day the heart-healthy way with a rich bowl of Bob's Red Mill Whole Grain Oat Groats. They also make a great side dish for dinner.

Double Boiler Method:
The night before, in the upper part of a double boiler, put in 1 cup Oat Groats,1/4 tsp salt and 4 cups boiling water. Cover and cook for 30 min. to 1 hour. Turn off heat and let cereal remain in boiler until morning. Reheat and serve in morning. Makes 4 servings.

i eat this stuff daily for breakfast. 10 minutes in a 400F oven will toast the grains; then just grind them in the blender,or food processor, or hand grind, and voila! instant fresh-tasting oatmeal; just add salt & boiling water. mix with a little less water for a dough; flatten on cookie sheet; bake for about 12-15 minutes at 400F, slice while warm; and you have flat bread or crackers. season as desired, salt, pepper, curry powder, seaweed...
perfect for my raw breakfast, soaked and blended with almond milk :)
