The length of time for the expiration date or "best used before" date depends on the type of product, as well as the brand.
Perishable items (such as flax oils or certain probiotics) generally have shorter expiration dates. Although our warehouse is fully air-conditioned, these more fragile items are put in cold storage (freezer or refrigeration unit) for maximum freshness.
Our receiving department does its best to verify and then enter the correct expiration dates for all incoming products. However, discrepancies do occur from time to time. This being said, the exceptionally high turnover at iHerb ensures that our inventory is among the freshest in the industry.

What are Steel Cut Oats?
Steel Cut Oats are a hearty way to start your day. We take the whole oat kernel and simply cut it into small pieces, creating whole grain oatmeal with a distinctive chewy texture. This 100% organic whole grain breakfast has a nutty taste the whole family will love.
*3 grams of soluble fiber from oatmeal daily in a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol may reduce the risk of heart disease. This product has 2 grams per serving.

To Make on Stovetop
- Bring water to a boil.
- Slowly stir in the steel cut oats.
- When oatmeal begins to thicken (about 5 minutes), reduce heat. Simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes (or desired consistency) stirring occasionally.
Note: Steel Cuts Oats are best prepared on the stovetop.
Microwaving steel cut oats is not recommended.
- Serve with milk, cream or a pat of butter.
- Add honey, maple syrup, molasses or brown sugar to sweeten.
- For an added treat add dried fruit, raisins, nuts or a pinch of cinnamon.

I used to be a rolled out fan but once I discovered steel cut oats there was no turning back. Fantastic taste and texture, great roughage for your intestines. When I remember I soak them in water over night before cooking them. Once cooked I add a handful of organic frozen blue berries which defrost just from the heat of the cooked oats (that way nutrients are not lost from the blue berries), mix in a teaspoon of cinnamon, add a little hemp oil and stevia. A healthy way to start the day & they keep you full until lunch time. I like both these and the Arrowhead Mills steel cut oats, these are a finer texture and cost less and are not packed in plastic.
This is my favorite Irish oatmeal. It smells like honey and summer wildflowers.
