Organic Fairtrade Earl Grey Tea
biodynamic leaf tea with bergamot
Earl Grey is named after the second Earl of Grey. We have recreated the original using an exclusive blend of biodynamic teas and the natural oil of bergamot, a citrus fruit. The result is an Earl Grey admirably suited to modern tastes: aromatic, smooth and sophisticated but never overpowering.
The tea is grown at Makaibari, the first biodynamic tea estate in the world, situated 3-4000 ft high up in the Himalayas. The estate is protected on all sides by lush virgin rainforests and is the home and livelihood to a community of 1700 people, a family of panthers and richly diverse wildlife.
Our promise to you. We believe we have some of the finest organic teas in the world. The purity and quality of our teas, and the natural harmony and well being of the estate and its people mean everything to us. All of our loose leaf teas are certified organic, biodynamic and Fairtrade.
Enjoy. Allow one level teaspoon of tea per person. Pour on freshly boiled water and infuse for up to 3 minutes. Best enjoyed without milk, or add a slice of lemon and try iced.
Fairtrade black leaf tea, natural oil of bergamot.
All ingredients are biodynamic / organic.
iHerb Customer Reviews
I have the bad habit of forgetting about my tea when it is steeping, and therefore over steeping it. As a consequence, I frequently have bitter cups of tea. The first time I tried this tea, I forgot about it while it was steeping, but the tea still tasted amazing - well rounded with a hint of bergamot - not bitter at all. It takes a good quality black tea to handle oversteeping, so this one makes the grade.
This tea is very fragrant, the brew has nice golden overtone and the tea is full-bodied without bitterness. As a rule, I put one teaspoon on the small kettle (approximately three small caps). Before, I liked to drink my earl greys with some milk, but this tea doesn’t need it. And yes, I never thought that cold tea can be drinkable, but this tea is very tasty even when it gets cold. The tea came nicely packed. Metal box with a lid and a cap. When we opened the plastic packet and poured the tea in its metal box, we left the plastic on the table and went for a walk. When we got home, our flat smelled divine!
