- USDA Organic
My Darjeeling is a good companion for the whole day as it is mellow and easy going, yet delivers a rich earthy flavor.
Before your first sip, breathe in the aroma and you'll be rewarded with that really musky scent of muscatel - the same fragrance that is left on my clothes when I walk around the Makaibari tea estate in Darjeeling.
Rajah, my friend who owns the Makaibari Estate where this tea comes from, lives by this simple mantra: "the better the soil, the better the taste".
And in this spirit he created the world's first organic biodynamic tea garden, where the tea pickers, wildlife and tea bushes all live in harmony with each other in an environment free of chemical pesticides.
As I always pay a quality premium for my tea, the extra income can be invested in things the tea pickers need, like child care, tree planting and school computers.
To enjoy my Darjeeling tea, infuse one level teaspoon per cup of freshly boiled water for 3 minutes.
Black leaf tea.
All ingredients are biodynamic/organic. Packed in the U.K.
iHerb Customer Reviews
The loose tea leaves produce a lovely fragrant black tea. The slightly higher price is well worth it for the product. The packaging is done up very nice to keep the tea fresh, and it would look very nice as a gift for a tea lover.

Tasty, clean, aromatic tea. Uplifting aftertaste. I love it with a few drops of stevia.
This tea had an odd metallic taste

Usually we enjoy Darjeeling teas but this one just didn't satisfy. The tea seemed one-note. The tin is nice, though. We ended up giving it away to friends.
Great Organic Tea

After reading about the dangers of non-organic tea being that the leaves of normal tea are not rinsed of insecticides before drying, I had to convert to organic tea. this is a nice soft tea that is great for my first morning cup of the day. This is my second order and will order again.

I never heard of Hampstead Tea before, but I did wanted some Darjeeling in my order so I gave it a shot, and it was well worth it. I might not know Darjeeling like I know my Chinese black and Oolong, but my guess that this is a First Flush with less leaf oxidation than those teas from a Second Flush, which in the end brings a brighter and more floral cup. Makaibari Darjeeling has a medium body and seems to go well in any part of the day with its fine floral and grape aroma. It can get a bit harsh if oversteeped, but everything under three minutes is a win. I'm planning to restock on this.
