This Package Contains:

  • 1 bottle Herbatint haircolor gel, 60 ml - 2 fl oz
  • 1 bottle Glycol Developer, 60 ml - 2 fl oz
  • 1 sample of either shampoo or Royal Cream conditioner, 15 ml - 0.5 fl oz
  • 1 pair of gloves
  • 1 leaflet containing directions for use

Suggested Use

Your hair must be dry and unwashed!

1) Using a plastic or a glass container, combine equal and sufficient amounts of Herbatint gel and the Glycol Developer to suit the length and volume of your hair. Replace the caps on the bottles containing unused products, and retain for future use.

2) Using a tinting brush, apply the mixture onto dry unwashed hair.

1st Case: Previously Colored Hair

3) Apply the mixture to the regrowth area and leave to develop for 30 minutes.

4) Then apply the remainder of the mixture through the rest of the hair and wait a further 10 minutes. (total processing time: 40 minutes).

2nd Case: Uncolored hair

3) Apply the mixture through the whole length of the hair starting at the roots. For best coverage use a tinting brush as supplied in a Herbatint application Kit. Discard any unused mixture.

4) Leave to process for 40 minutes.

During processing, the color of the product may differ from your target color, this is quite common and doesn't have any effect on the final color.

5) Once processed rinse hair thoroughly until the water runs clear.

6) Shampoo your hair, using preferably a shampoo from the Herbatint range for best results, rinse and towel dry.

7) Apply the Royal Cream Conditioner, leave for 5 minutes, rinse again and style your hair as usual.

Colors from 1N to 8N (the natural series) achieve a 100% coverage of your grey hair. In order to achieve total grey coverage with the Ash, Golden, Copper and Mahogany color series, it is suggested to mix the chosen color (40 ml) with a natural series color of the same number (20 ml). For example: your hair color is chestnut and your selected color is copper chestnut, mix 40 ml of Herbatint 4R (copper chestnut) with 20 ml of Herbatint 4N (chestnut). Follow instructions as usual.

Darker than expected, fades

Posted by Reviewer2625092 on Sep 22, 2013

This dye will make your hair as dark as Katy Perry's or Cher's (or very close). It successfully covered all my gray hair without mixing it with an "N" color, as the directions said, but unfortunately it was much darker than I expected. UPDATE: Although the color was initially ash colored and darker than my natural hair color, it faded with time. Several months later as my hair grew out and the roots became visible, the part I dyed actually looked oranger and slightly lighter than my natural hair color. I don't think the ash color lasts. This dye did permanently cover the gray. I definitely recommend buying 1-2 shades lighter than how you think it will turn out based on the color's name. If you want to maintain an ash color, it will probably require a semi-permanent dye to be applied every so often. I think this problem of the ash color washing out is typical of most permanent hair dyes even from salons.

Fan of this prodct for years now

Posted by Reviewer1963608 on Sep 13, 2011

I mix this with another shade, and paint it on the limited area where I need it (at temples) with a paintbrush. Because you use only as much as you need and then can seal the bottle up, the bottle lasts me for ages. I like it that it is less toxic than other stuff, and that I can do it so easily myself. The color does not last as long if I am swimming in chlorinated pool.

Herbatint Hair Color 5C

Posted by Reviewer1494476 on Oct 05, 2008

This colour is perfect for my hair, as it is just a little lighter than my natural colour (I am 55 next Monday so slightly lighter is more elegant), and does not have unwanted red tones. Color 5C is no longer available on the shelf in Australia so I have to order it through the Internet. Regards Lorna

Best Hair Color

Posted by Reviewer1676115 on Aug 30, 2008

This is the best hair color...as with any hair color the your hair is several shades darker than you'd think but there is no awful smell. It covers stubborn gray hair about as long as other colors without drying your hair out as well. I'd recommend this product to anyone and everyone.
