Better than NOW
Posted by kanaca on Jan 13, 2012
I was taking NOW 7-Keto and didn't realize it was a "7-Keto metabolite," not exactly 7-Keto. Source Naturals IS 7-Keto. With Source Naturals, I DID NOT metabolize the excess into estrogen -- which makes me gain weight, get brain fog, and really sluggish. Try this product before trying NOW.

I really like Jarrow products, typically. But this made no difference, when cheaper formulas did. I read other reviews. Since July, other customers have remarked the formula (and bottle) have changed.
great for low acetylcholine

I took the Dr. Braverman Quiz and found I was super low in acetylcholine. I take this 3-4 times a day. Morning afternoon and eve with a 1/4 tsp of NOW Acetyl-L-Carnitine, and Pantethine. You can feel the acetyl group binding to the choline. Cuz it'll make your focus and vision sharp and wake you up without any anxious feeling. At night, before bed, I take along with 5HTP. Instead of drowsy, the Choline& Inositol adds a feeling of calm to the drowsy.
Life Changing - best on market

I'm a poor methylator - and am on a protocol for methylation. I didn't know about the spectrum of co-enzymated, bioavailable B-vitamins. And wow, taking them makes a difference! Finally, Methyl-folate, P5P, Co-enzymated B2. I wonder why Country Life combines traditional, non-coenzymated forms in combination with co-enzymated. I've bought bottle for my whole family!

I'm trying to tighten junctions in my gut and smooth digestion. So I make jello with pomegranite juice to have around and nosh on before dinner and before bed. Tastes great, too, adding dextrose (trying to get the fructose out of my diet). You can really smell the meaty odor in plain hot water, but add a sweetener and/or juice and it makes gorgeous jellos. I also make a coconut milk jello -- nice and dense. Delicious, organic, won't live without it in the pantry.
something about it

I suffer from CFS. Dr. Teitelbaum, author of From Fatigued to Fantastic, touts his formula for Thymus. But it's really expensive. With Natl Sources, I get decent results. I feel my energy level out early in the day, nasal passages clear slightly. I take 3-5 capsules/day.
larger doses if needed

I tried the dosage on the bottle and felt no change. I tried the dosage I found in studies and I think - in just 3 days - my overall wellbeing is increasing and I suspect in 6 months my cognitive function will return almost to normal. Taking this for severe AcetylCholine deficiency, after 3 yrs of CFS.

Taken on an empty stomach, can really boost mental clarity.

Dr. Andrew Weil recommends up to 1000mg/day. It works more efficiently when I take this much. I have CFIDS, and I think my body's able to convert a little bit of fat stores into energy, at least. Seems to help with sugar craving/up-down blood sugar. Jarrow Formulas seems as good as they say!
split the tablet

It's not always recommended to take more than 5mgs at a time. I bite this tiny tablet in half. When I've taken 10mgs at once, it's made me spacey.
easier bowel movement

I take two in the morning before food and sometimes in the evening. It's more effective and cheaper than aloe vera juice

I have CFS. Taking Raw Pituitary, I get to REM sleep and have vivid dreams--like when I was well. But I only take half a capsule; put the rest in an empty capsule for the following night. These are strong. Take about 40 mins prior to sleep.
