My iHerb Story

New to iHerb? Use Rewards Code SAF142 for up to $5.00 off your first order.

I first heard about iHerb last year, when someone in my running club promoted this website, (using his promotion code, of course). I am an American living in South Korea, so it is very hard for me to find vitamins and supplements here. I was looking for some prenatal vitamins, so I ordered some from iHerb. I was surprised at how quickly the order came, and how well packaged the products were. The price was also very reasonable compared to other companies, (especially the shipping costs). I have been hooked ever since! I believe that many health problems are linked to nutritional deficiencies. I have read many books on this topic, so most of the supplements I purchase are based on careful research. In a perfect world we would be able to obtain most of the nutrients and minerals we need from our food, but industrial agricultural methods have made this very difficult. For this reason I think supplementation is a necessary evil. If you find my reviews helpful, please rate them.

Too much work

I bought this product to prevent stretch marks. It might really work, but it is difficult to handle, so I wasn't using it every day. The product I am currently using organic coconut oil, and it is so much easier to work with.

The pills are easier

The quality of this product is good, but I had a hard time taking it. (It was a challenge when I was struggling with morning sickness). The gel filled caps are easier to take. I found myself making my own gel caps with this product, then I just switched brands.

I bought this product to make "coconut ice cream". It was just O.K. To be fair, it could have been the recipe. I love coconut products, but I prefer to use coconut oil in my smoothies, and coconut milk.

Not enough magnesium

I bought this product because it was fairly inexpensive, and I didn't know how long it would take for me to get pregnant. If I could go back and do it again, I would have bought the more expensive brand. This one does not have enough magnesium in it.

This is a great vitamin C product, easy on the stomach and is supposed to be absorbed by the body well. The pills are pretty big, which doesn't bother me, but it might bother some people.

Macadamia nuts are very expensive in South Korea, so I like ordering them from iHerb. I really love chocolate covered Macadamia nuts, but I prefer to make my own using 85% cocoa organic dark chocolate. I used a recipe by Mark Sisson, author of "The Primal Blueprint" to make dark chocolate bars with these macadamia nuts , sprinkled with some Celtic sea salt. Delicious! I know chocolate is not really "primal", but organic chocolate (85% cocoa preferred) is one of the indulgences Mark Sisson mentioned he allows himself in his book.

I was so happy to see that iherb has Brazil nuts in stock. I have not been able to find them here in South Korea yet. I will definitely buy them again.

Great for Pregnant Women

I bought this product because I had pretty bad morning sickness in the first trimester of my pregnancy. I simply could not tolerate the taste of fluoridated toothpaste. (This also made me wonder how wise it is to use toothpaste with fluoride in it, since I was sensitive to many toxins). This toothpaste worked wonderfully. I will probably continue to use it in the future as well.

O.K. for Castor Oil

Not really sure about the rave reviews about the effects of this on skin. I read that it is supposed to even out skin tone, and it didn't really seem to work. It is good as a moisturizer.

Brewer's yeast was one of the recommended as a supplement during the 1st trimester of pregnancy in a book I read, "Real Food for Mother and Baby", by Nina Plank. (Of course according to the label, you must consult a physician if you are pregnant before taking this product).
